Vic Dakin (Richard Burton) in Villain -
'You've been talking too much, Benny, this'll help you to get the chat out quicker.' Slashes face with razor. Great heist scene too. |

No, not that kind of swordsman!
Add to that Captain Esteban Pasquale from "The Mark of Zorro." I've read that Rathbone, generally considered the finest fencer in Hollywood, only won one on-screen sword fight, as he was usually the villain.
How about M. Emmet Walsh in "Blood Simple." the best evil laugh since Vince Vaughn in "Clay Pidgeons" (another fine villian). |

Star Trek actor Deforest Kelley for many years did a nice line in western villains, soft spoken and smiling.Raymond Burr pre Perry Mason and Ironside made a specialty of fat sweaty mobsters in many a crime thriller and comedy star Walter Matthau was a memorable villian in The Kentuckian

Alan Rickman, as Severus Snape in the Harry potter series.I guess technically he's a hero, but we don't find that out until the very end of the saga.Along the way he's a complete dick head, and we doubt his loyalty to Dumbledore, or the cause of good.
Rickman plays a compelling role to perfection-first we hate him, then we hate ourselves for doubting him.Nice job by Rowling, nice job by Rickman. |

Hey Mal, another great Matthau villian was Maxie, the mobster in Elvis' best movie "King Creole".
