Ho-ho-ho, breathe out the helium, lad. The Croats might get sloppy as they did in the last two games and propel you into the finals but taking France or Belgium? Maybe in ten years.

Reading in other sites reminded me of the Brazil/Belgium game in 02. Brazil were lucky with that game, there was a dodgy smell about it. Belgians would've loved knocking them off!

A couple of gems on other sites.

"If Russia had won, all four of Germany's main rival in 1914 would've appeared in the semi's."

"After the game against Colombia, Sweden would've felt like a holiday for England."

Belgium v France, potentially the match between the two best teams at this WC and it could be a cracker or one of those where they cancel each other out...being in a semi-final does funny things to folk.

On paper there's little to chose between the players on either side; for my money, Martinez has been smarter and able to get more out of his players than the gradually improving France. The French always give the impression that they are only one poor decision away from having a sulky melt-down.

I'm a big admirer of Giroud - he works tirelessly and he's due a goal, if only (like Kane for England) his team can get him some decent service in open play - for all their big names, the Belgians do look surprisingly vulnerable at the back. If the Belgians go with Hazard, Lukaku and DeBruyne as their attacking trio, then I think that they'll have the edge - DeBruyne showed against Brazil that he's as good at this level as his is for his club - a potential match winner.

The Belgians look the better all-round team however and if they don't suddenly choke, should have enough to reach their first ever final but maybe only after extra time? Really looking forward to this one.

Just about every where online I've looked, the matchup between France and Belgium is rated as pretty even.

Belgium has never won a World Cup, right? According to Wiki.

I think they deserve one.

France vs Belgium is going to be a very interesting match....the winner of that will be a tough but good challenge for England or Croatia.

IF the final has either Croatia or Belgium, I would like either to win only because both France and England have already won a World Cup. It just good to see someone new and especially for a country like Croatia....but Croatia really...REALLY needs to show us what they are made of.

When Russia won the bid for this World Cup and we came nowhere despite a technically flawless bid (FIFA technical committee), my family couldn't understand why I wasn't totally devastated. My answer was that football is a world game. Why not Russia? Whatever was behind the decision will always be conjecture. The fact is that the Russian World Cup seems to have been a massive success from all perspectives. The atmosphere has been great. The stadiums look fantastic and, from all accounts, the people of Russia have treated the fans superbly. I hope that the European Championships go back to the previous format and that Russia gets to do it all again.

Odds for the qualification are @1.75 for France and @2.10 for Belgium.
Does it seem to you logical ?

If we remember the last two games, Belgium had hard times against Japan and won against Brazil thanks to an own goal.

France remarkably won against Argentina during an epic game and had an easy game against a diminished Uruguay.

But past and odds do not represent the present.
