In September, 2001, we in the U.S. started to have that discussion: Were these folks criminals or some sort of "army" as they claimed? So should we respond as we always had, and treat it as a criminal matter? (Note, for example, that the survivors of the first attack on the World Trade Center in 1993 are so deep in a prison that they have forgotten what the light of day looks like.)

The consensus was to treat it as a criminal matter, and the U.S. filed an extradition request to the Taliban government, which responded by agreeing to extradite certain people, but pointing out that those folks were pretty heavily armed and hiding away in the Tora Bora Mountains, so they might need some help with the extradition.

At the time we had an idiot for a president who was surrounded by idiots like Paul Wolfowitz, who told him that his cock would grow if he invaded Afghanistan and treated the situation as if it were war.

From that very bad decision lots of shit did grow.

Five men have been charged with conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm following a suspected acid attack on a three-year-old boy.

Three men from London, aged 22, 25 and 26, and two from Wolverhampton, aged 39 and 41, are due in court later.

The boy suffered serious burns to his face and an arm at the Home Bargains store in Worcester on Saturday.

West Mercia Police said it would not be releasing the identities of the men who have been charged.

They are due to appear at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

The suspected attack occurred in the Tallow Hill area of Worcester at about 14:15 BST on Saturday.

The child was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to hospital for treatment.

He was discharged the following day but the long-term implications of his injuries are not yet known.

Oh, and In Toronto there have been 2 females killed, a 10 year old and an 18 year old, and 14 wounded by a Moslem, who apparently trained in Afghanistan and Pakistan, as is evidenced by his skilled and obviously practiced use of a handgun, something "mentally ill" folk cannot get in Canada, unless its bought illegally. This happened in Toronto.
