Just as a FYI, when Anders Celsius came up with his eponymous scale (in 1742), it had 0°C as boiling point, and 100°C as freezing point. It came into widespread use after being inverted.

Celsius is for machines, Fahrenheit is for people.

Most living occurs between 0 and 100 Fahrenheit .

The metric system is not for people, its for machines.
I have an intuitive understanding of, say PSI, but not say, kilopascals.
Inches, feet, yards, as well.

Most machining is still done in inches, or thou, as they call it.

It's true that Kelvin is the most rational scale (for machines), with the absolute zero as 0. But then you're not using the benefit of negative values.

As for humanly understandable situations, 0 for freezing point and 100 for boiling point is the most human-centric one, as water is a major issue in our lives. Even in our daily lives, like making ice, or knowing when things will freeze over in the morning, Celsius makes perfect sense. Everything minus is freezing.

From there on, the logical step is to make 100 degrees the next change (liquid to gas).

The world minus the USA has an intuitive understanding of the Celsius scale. I'll give you kilopascals, no one uses those in daily life though. Most people don't use PSI either, to be fair...

I don't understand why America sticks to Fahrenheit (except for habit, no one likes change). Not that i have anything against this scale, it's just a scale and it even has the cooler name.

My generation of British people still think in Fahrenheit and in £s, shillings and pence and in gallons [ Imperial gallons , not those undersized American gallons] And everyone I know is familiar with PSI!!
