The children of British servicemen (and women) born overseas are British citizens and they get a British birth certificate. They can also represent any of the four home nations at sport regardless of which of the four home nations their parents are from. If anyone remembers a footballer called Jeremy Goss, he was born in Cyprus but played for Wales.

So was Eleanor Rigby of Beatles fame. I seem to remember seeing a picture of her gravestone some years back. She was born in the Victorian era (pre. 1901 for the benefit of any non English members!), and died in the late 1930's.

The Football World Cup is currently in London where people can get their photographs taken with it but no mere mortals are allowed to touch or hold it EXCEPT for former winners and heads of state. I suppose that is the magic of the World trophy. The former trophy Jules Rimet was once stolen from an exhibition in London in 1966 but found by a dog called Pickles. However it was stolen again in Brazil and has never been found to this day.

IIRC at the last world cup Sepp Blatter handed the trophy to the South African president, does that mean Blatter is a Head of State?

I am sure that being the head of FIFA that would entitle Sepp Blatter to handle it, perhaps as the official custodian - they must trust him enough - but if you remember years ago, when a team had won the European Cup that idiot Lennart Johannson tried to grab the glory by half lifting it himself before handing it to the winning captain-I cite Liverpool and Graeme Souness - or whoever the chief of UEFA was at that time.

What do the songs "Brain Salad Surgery" by ELP, "Waiting for the Sun" by the Doors and "Sheer Heart Attack" by Queen have in common?
All are title track to albums that do not appear on the album that shares the name. "Brain Salad Surgery" is on Works II, "Waiting for the Sun" is on Morrison Hotel and "Sheer Heart Attack" is on News of the World.

According to The Times this morning Hebden Bridge has more lesbians than any other area!! Considering that gruff bulldog Sir Bernard Ingham(former press secretary to Margaret Thatcher) came from there, it must have dramatically changed over the years! They also call it 'The San Francisco of Britain!!'

According to the BBC website, a UK man has come forward to claim the £107.9 million pound Euromillions jackpot.
