I notice after a few inches of snow in the UK the country is in chaos again, I mean its not as if its a once in lifetime event is it?
Makes you wonder how the likes of Sweden Norway & every other country where it really does snow, manage.

What's even worse is now that we in the northwest have had to switch to 'wonderful' digital TV we ain't getting a signal from the satallite when it's raining cloudy or it snows. So before only the roads and the country came to standstill, NOW we can't even get to watch the box while we are stuck at home! Not like in the good 'ole days of the 'terrible' analogue signal.

And our state of the fart digital TV picks up BBC1 Wales & BBC2 Wales and not our local BBC stations presumably as the Welsh signal is stronger (and I'm in Lancashire). Thankfully SKY still feeds me the right signals.

Used to get the same problem when I first had SKY installed.
Still get disruptions when it really pours down...

I see that England held on by their fingernails for a draw against South Africa after having one of their well renowned collapses.

Yup ... went out this morning despite "Arctic conditions" (slightly chilly and 3mm of snow overnight). The roads had been gritted so were clear, but despite being in a rear-wheel drive sports car, I kept getting stuck behind muppets in 4X4's who were plodding along at 15mph (I kid you not) ... presumably because there was still a dusting of snow on the pavements! These seem to be the same 4X4's which have to slow down to about 0.2mph in order to negotiate speed bumps, so I've now come to realise that in many instances, the "4X4" badge on a vehicle is an indication of the number of brain-cells owned (if not actually used) by the driver.

LONDON (Reuters) - U.S. rap-metal band Rage Against The Machine took the coveted Christmas number one in British pop charts on Sunday after an Internet campaign to keep the winner of the "X Factor" TV talent show from the top spot.

No comment thus far on Ian Bell's contribution in the 1st Test?

Scounds is up here in the North over Christmas, with limited PC access.
If I know him he will be glued to the test and will comment when he can.

I am going out drinking with him tomorrow, I'll mention your post.

Because they know it'll snow heavily every single year, just as it has since mankind first started living there. We don't get anything like that kind of weather; it's not unusual for the majority of the UK to never see snow for years at a time. We don't have the infrastructure to cope - we could get it no doubt, but it'd be expensive.

Can you justify the costs involved without the guarantee of the snow levels ?
