I'd suggest that it looked like half the pictures were missing because half the pictures probably were. I'm sure that Whitehouse / Playbirds / Lovebirds and the rest of the Sullivan stable simply edited the H/C bits out of continental H/C shoots - continental as in "published there" - it was always arousing to see that a full on H/C set in Private or Color Climax had in fact been shot in the UK.

As for the actual topic, I hate mags from the Silva stable that feature huge gloops of obviously fake cum in the pictures where the money shot should be. Who do they think they're fooling?

I can sort of understand this. One feature is being used to support an interview with a hardcore porn star, and they want to get as close to the action as possible while staying within their own editorial limits. On the second page the illustrations are there to support a story - and as we all know the stories in all of the PRP magazines were considerably harder than the photographs.

I don't have any scans of it as I sold it on, but I did have a hardcore (or what was supposedly hardcore) mag from the 1990s. Every penetration shot was marked with a big black blog, as was every oral scene.

Most ridiculous however were the pages containing what were obviously cumshots. One scene featured a couple of photos where the guy had clearly discharged a monster load onto the woman's tits and tummy, something that provided some photoshop geek with what must have been half an hour of fun. Every last droplet of spunk was blotted out with a black dot, and the result was what looked like an awful join the dots puzzle on the chicks chest and stomach.

Utterly pointless.

Points taken Sharkhunter , but i know you share my bemusement.
I can get it about the interview/promo of a particular video, but the stories are never related to the photoshoots. : So why do they choose to use a photoset that shows penetration while knowing the magazine cannot portray images that do so?
I happen to like a smiley, but not while mid wank-fest & it's not like they were pushed for images to use is it .

Censorship is at its worst when the Mag then directs you to their paysite to see the harder pics

If anything you should be giving free entry into the paysite for a 3 day trial period

Those doing this are following the more conservative laws of the day presumably or
are greedy,thinking short term and dont get how to retain and keep a customer coming back for more.

The adult industry has been full of dubious practices for decades and wont ever change

Amateurish attempt to cover the above cumshot. I have never seen anything as bad as that. I always liked Mayfair, hence a 35 year collection. But when Paul Raymond took it over, well it just degraded into something like all his other magazines at that time. Full of lies, ugly women mostly, black dots, adverts and telephone numbers. Zero content with no format and sets of the same girls that appeared time after time. I always thought they run out of material. I do hark back to the days when women were real women. Nothing fake, all natural bushy babes. In contrast to one of the above posters, I liked Knave and thought it a decent mag. Fiesta was ok but I didn't collect it, nor was I ambitious about Penthouse, though when it picked up and changed direction a bit, I bought it for a few years when it did its run of page 3 girls and the like. When I was abroad, I picked up the euro mags which quickly became favourites, and when I got onto the American stage, I collected Oui for a very long time, Genesis and High Society in the eighties. Though I collect very little now, I always look out for stuff I know of, like the above if anything might be missing (though not usually). I do make special attempts to find Late Night Extra/Girl Illustrated. Much sought after and often expensive. I have some issues of both and found them quite daring at times.
