Guess...

Donald Trump urged Spain to 'build the wall' – across the Sahara

Quote:
Donald Trump suggested the Spanish government tackled the Mediterranean migration crisis by emulating one of his most famous policies and building a wall across the Sahara desert, the country’s foreign minister has revealed.

According to Josep Borrell, the US president brushed off the scepticism of Spanish diplomats – who pointed out that the Sahara stretched for 3,000 miles – saying: “The Sahara border can’t be bigger than our border with Mexico.”

I'm intrigued. "Provably" means what, exactly? You're not concerned that you might just conceivably be guilty of stereotyping LGBT people just a tad here?

One thinks of course of the Bradley Manning case. But do you have reliable information on how many LGBT people have served or are serving with no such failures of character and integrity? I would imagine most such people conceal their orientation to avoid the hostile attention of Mr Trump and his breed. But the more obvious concern, mental stability-wise, is a president with neither intelligence, judgement nor self-control. Mr Trump presumes to think he is qualified to have an opinion on whether LGBT people are fit to serve in the military; but when you examine his own behaviour, it is clear that the US military didn't miss much when Mr Trump dodged the draft.

YEP.

Confirmed... then withdrawn.... then re-confirmed by the Govt, who then closed discussion.

It was an aside during a meeting when the Spanish Royalty visisted the WH and Trump said,
"Your Border has Gotta Be Shorter than ours..."

" Build a Wall..."

In another country ? On another Continent ?

US Mexico Border = 1,954 miles

Sahara (on another Continent) = 1,250 miles LONGER

Jeez

Who missed Geography 101 ?

As they say.... BBB !

Yes, Trump is that stupid. The only people stupider are the minority who voted for him.

Of course, there are some folks out there who voted for Boris Johnson. Stupidity is not merely an American vice.

Maybe in gang ridden areas kids are taught law enforcement & punishment of anykind is oppression and must be spited & rebelled against a all cost, we have video footage of that very thing happening with the black mother who held her child as a shield while pointing a shotgun at the police the day after telling her child over & over that the cops are going to kill them even tho said cops she dealt with at that traffic stop were some of the most tame, patient & reasonable cops imaginable. (The child litterally responded to her in the footage saying "but they are being nice") Hence a black mother at my mom's school threatening to mass murder the entire office staff because they gave her child a demerit.
Not saying this is universal, but it absolutely is one of the reasons black kids refuse to follow cops orders or full on bow up to the cops or even intentionally pretend to reach for a gun just to test & mock them.

And don't anyone respond trying to make this about racism on my part, plenty of African born backs don't have this mindset, it's intercity American gang & getto culture that is the problem NOT their genetics.

Shooting someone in self defense isn't murder, period.

Give me statistics on how many of those 1000 are proven to have not only been wrongful or accidental but intentional malicious acts of "I'm going to kill this person for the sole reason that I want to or that I will enjoy it" type of murder.

Jeez, how many more stories like this are going to come out? 30 plus year old stories are going to be hard to prove/disprove - but now I am not so sure of what is going to happen.

There's a third accuser, being represented by Michael Avenatti. She's alleging Kavanaugh and his friends ran a train on her while she was out of it on drink and drugs.

If Kavanaugh had any sense, he'd stand down.

Despite all this, I have a feeling the Repugnants are going to try and confirm him anyway.

Mitch McConnell knows full well they're facing an electoral tsunami in November, and that this is his last chance to get a staunch conservative in the Supreme Court.

Here's an excellent piece by Benjamin Wittes, who is both Kavanaugh's friend, and an early defender:

Whether these incidents happened 30 years ago or three years ago is irrelevant, since there is no statute of limitations in the state of Maryland. That's a prudent law when it comes to sexual violence in particular, because it often takes decades for victims of sexual assault and rape to work through their trauma and supressed memories and have the strength to come forward. Of course it is more difficult for law enforcement agencies to investigate these claims many years later, because the memories of witnesses grow less reliable and precise over time. Yet it's far from impossible, especially when there have been many incidents with multiple witnesses who could help piece together the puzzle and corroborate victims' claims. Think of Bill Cosby and Harvey Weinstein as a comparison, whose sometimes decades-old crimes caught up with them as more and more victims came forward.

The Republicans know this, which is why they do not want law enforcement to investigate Dr. Ford's accusations and why, even though they knew beforehand about these allegations, they tried to ramrod him through the confirmation process before this would become the furball that it now has.

You need to ask yourself a few questions and answer for yourself if they pass the smell test:
1) If Dr. Ford is lying, then why did she tell her therapist about the attempted rape six years ago, long before Kavanaugh came to national attention?
2) If Dr. Ford is lying, what does she have to gain by doing this? She has lived a quiet, comfortable life as a tenured professor in Palo Alto until last week. Now she has had to leave her home due to multiple death threats from right wing crazies. And if she lies under oath before the Senate and is found out, she (unlike Kavanaugh, who has already perjured himself repeatedly without any consequences) will go to prison.
3) If Dr. Ford is lying, then why is she the one demanding a law enforcement investigation into her claims that would run the risk of exposing her as a wrongful accuser and be prosecuted for it, while the accused and his allies do everything in their power to keep that investigation from being started? That is not how an innocent man would act, he would welcome the investigation as an opportunity to clear his name, he wouldn't want to be known as the alleged rapist on the bench for the next thirty years.

There will likely be more victims and more may come forward in the following days, as there is almost never "just the one" with men who mistreat women. If they can get away with it once, they will do it again. And again.

There could be dozens of victims and the Republican Party would not care. They already crossed that river with Donald Trump and were rewarded for it with a Presidency. They know that the President wants Kavanaugh. What made Trump elevate Kavanaugh above all the other Heritage Foundation judges is his forceful and very public asslicking of the President and opinion that said President should be completely above the law and prosecution for any crime.

Trump's need to avoid being indicted and pick a compromised judge has put Mitch McConnell in a binder. He can either shoot down Kavanaugh soon and ask a capricious President who loathes him to nominate a more palatable judge from the Heritage shortlist and try to ramrod through that judge just before the Midterms - or he can put Kavanaugh on the bench now and hope that future allegations don't force his impeachment. Either choice runs the small risk of costing the Republicans the Senate- and McConnell the position of majority leader.

Excellent post above.

I don't think they'll have time to get another judge in front of the committee before the midterms. It's basically Kavanaugh or bust.
