The strange thing is that after that day of the site seeming to disappear all of the direct bookmarks i had to my favorite sections here no longer work, the urls have all changed. When i click any of them it just brings me to the main forum page now. Coincidence?

In the interests of providing information, here is how the Domain Name Service generally works. If you are using top level DNS servers in your system settings, these servers will usually update the name/IP information on their servers within a few hours of a change being made. As an example, top level DNS servers available for anyone's use are Google Public DNS and OpenDNS.
Most ISP's do not allow access to top level DNS servers to consumers, they usually issue DNS IP's from secondary or tertiary caching servers that take longer to update. Top level server access on large ISP's like Verizon is reserved for business customers usually but their consumer DNS updates quickly too because Verizon owns one of the larger internet backbones in the world (they bought MCI/Worldcom). If you are using the DNS servers issued by your ISP (which is default for most), it will usually take from 48 to 72 hours for changes made at the top level to propagate out to those caching servers depending on how often they sync with top level servers. Google Public DNS servers: Primary: 8.8.8.8 Secondary: 8.8.4.4 OpenDNS servers: Primary: 208.67.220.220 Secondary: 208.67.222.222 You can load all of these servers in at once, if one fails it will automatically go to the next until it resolves the name and IP. Also, in Windows, you can change the order of use by going to advanced TCP/IP settings, then DNS and simply highlighting the server IP and hitting the up/down arrows on the right. All I can say is this. I am using these four servers for DNS and have been for a while. I have had zero issues with redirects anywhere on this forum and I have not flushed cache on either system or browser. Currently running Win 10 Pro and FF 52.8.0 (64-bit) corporate version.

I have been having problems logging in yesterday evening and today. At first I was getting "page cannot be displayed" via my usual shortcut but noticed extra characters in the web address box which generated spontaneously - usually an addition ww62 or ww92.
Later this same link took me to a site under construction using the VEF name. Here is a screenshot:- Note the extra digits in the address box (ww92 in this case). I have since put my computer through system restore and am now able (as you can see) to log in. |

Vodafone Router
I don't know if this will help any Vodafone users in the UK. I switched internet providers to them a couple of months ago but it started blocking the content from practically all the image hosting sites even though I had all safety settings switched off in their content control. Anyway, I found this workaround where you can change to the Google DNS Servers directly in the Vodafone Router meaning it bypasses the Vodafone filters. It's quite simple, even I could do it!
1. Log into the router admin – 192.168.1.1 2. Change from Basic Mode to Expert Mode in the top right hand box 3. Click on Internet in the top menu 4. Under Firewall on the left hand side click on DNS & DDNS 5. Change the DNS configuration from Automatically to Manually 6. Enter the Google Public DNS servers as Jenny and highwayman have mentioned (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.), click on Apply and you're done. |

So... er, this domain isn't really for sale, then?
Thought I might've found a bargain! |

Hello Jenny,
So have I correctly understood you?: you're able to access: http://vintage-erotica-forum.com/usercp.php and you don't get auto-redirected to: http://vintage-erotica-forum.com/ when you try that, as I do? That's the bit that I'm (still) experiencing. I'd wondered if that was a (current/temp) vef admin tweak? |

Day five and still no access to User CP - keeps redirecting to Index page.
Edit: Just read the post above and cleared the cache, seems to be back to normal now, cheers. |
