Since I was a schoolboy, I've been a student of WWII. Although I well know the story of the battle of Stalingrad, Beevor's book is extraordinarily well written, and very absorbing.

I've just finished " The Duke's Children" - the last of Anthony Trollope's six Palliser Novels.

Before that I read all of his "Barchester Chronicles" . Took me three years in total and I read them all on an iPhone. I wonder if that's some sort of record.

Currently reading "Deadlier Than the Male: Femme Fatales in 1960s and 1970s Cinema Paperback" by Douglas Brode

It's bringing back lots of memories of my early visits to the cinema when I often went 3 or 4 times a week as we had a massive variety of films to watch, even dubbed foreign horror movies, sadly now it is more under 10 times a year

I have two seperate bbc radio versions of the entire Barchester Chronicles. The Small House at Allington is the nearest I've been to enjoying a romance story and I still curse Adolphus Crosby for destroying John Eames hopes.

Reading The Murder Bag at the mo. The first of Tony Parson's Max Wolfe books. Good so far and steers away from over the top British crime dramas that I dread.

Ralf Jaumann - Expeditionen zu fremden Welten (2017)

Fantastic and accessible book about our solar system. The data and information are up to date and the many graphics certainly make the understanding easier. I've read other books on astronomy like Der neue Kosmos by Albrecht Unsöld and Bodo Baschek but some of them are tough to follow because much of their content is explained in mathematical equations. They can be grasped with a little dedication but they're not a factor when you want to read a book about space. Well, Expeditions to Alien Worlds (the English title) is the perfect choice for both laymen and experts. This book is so exciting, it gave me dirty thoughts and made me touch myself. Definitely recommended!

Moonshots: 50 Years of NASA Space Exploration Seen through Hasselblad Cameras by Piers Bizony - A nice big coffee table book of mainly photographs from the Apollo moon program. Been wanting it for a while and it turned up on a special deal on Amazon recently.

Default All the President's Men.

I'm currently reading 'All the President's Men' by Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, the story of how they uncovered the top-level conspiracy to hide the US President's staff's involvement in an attempted break-in at the offices of the Democratic National Party headquarters in the Watergate building. It's about the fourth or fifth time I've read this book because the vast number of characters involved makes it sometimes difficult to follow the 'story' but it's an enthralling read nonetheless.

Currently I have read this week's issue of 2000AD -
(features the Return of DURHAM RED )
The advantage of being a subscriber - I get it a week early
and I have to wait till the end of the week , to get my pre-ordered copy of JUDGES - Avalanche ( by Michael Carroll )
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, 2033 A.D.
In a time of widespread poverty, inequality and political unrest, Special Prosecutor Eustace Fargo’s controversial new justice laws have come into effect.
Protests and violence meet the first Judges as they hit the street to enforce the Law; the cure, it’s clear, is far worse than the disease.
Is this a sign of things to come?
