Currently watching Iron Sky (2012) Gleeful sci fi satire in the tradition of Starship Troopers.The FX are excellent and the performances suitably over the top,All this and Wagner too.Of course when this was made POTUS Sarah Palin was the most ridiculous thing imaginable...

Just started Mad Max : Fury Road,So far it's a mix of the best bits of The Road Warrior and the crap bits of Thunderdome.Hugh Keays Byrne,The epitome of charismatic evil in the original is here merely The Lord Humongous grown old and fat,Just another megalomaniacal villain in a mask with a penchant for purple prose. It's big and loud but there's little here that has not been done to death in countless Mad Max 2 rip offs over these last thirty six years..

Watched "Only the Brave" (2017) - a film regarding the "Hotshot" team of wild lands fire fighters who lost 19 out of 20 members in the Yarnell Hill fire. A well told but very sad story that not surprisingly lost money. I can't really see many people wanting to see how a group of very hard working fire fighters were incinerated because high winds in canyons can cause a wave of flame to cover a vast amount of ground in seconds.

Depressing as hell. 3.5 out of 5. Kind of like "Million Dollar Baby" - good movie, but will leave you in a dark funk.

I did note that Hollywood didn't try to inject race into this movie, unlike "12 Strong" - the team of all Whites were not changed to add color to the cast. Amazingly un PC.

CREED 2

Life has come full circle for
Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan)as he is set to take on the son of Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren)who killed his father in the boxing ring.

PRAISE:The entire cast is spot on greatwhich includes: Dolph Lundgren, Florian Munteanu, Russell Hornsby, Phylicia Rashad Jordan and
Tessa Thompson who portrays his girlfriend Bianca chemistry is off the charts.The script is seasoned with all the right emotion and humor.
The fight scenes are intense and involving i was feeling those punches !!
As of late writers have been making"villains in in their stories more relateable.
As soon as i thought one particular character was going to be one note ...BAM !!..I was not only hit with some character development and emotion and i really appreciated it.
The series has landed in the capable hands of
Steven Caple Jr.
At first i thought the film wouldnt hit my emotional chord but it hit me with the one two punch of raw emotion several times.

PROBLEMS: A bit more predictable and cliched this time around.There was a semi cheesy moment that made me laugh out loud.I was actually hoping more would be done with a certain character because it would have added to the plentiful emotional moments in the film

Im kind of in the middle about wanting this series to continue if it ends now it goes out with a bang but im curious about what they can come up with.

Ralph Breaks the Internet

Best friends Wreck-It Ralph and Vanellope von Schweetz head to the internet for one thing they really need,but you know how the search for one thing leads to another when your surfing the web.

PRAISE: Great and enthusiastic voice work by the entire cast :John C. Reilly,Sarah Silverman,Gal Gadot,Jane Lynch,Jack McBrayer,Alan Tudyk,Alfred Molina,Ed O'Neill and Taraji P. Henson.
The film definitely has charm and then some.
With nods to everything from Instagram to Star Wars.
The producers and animators really did their homework on the mannerisms and personalities of familiar and well known characters even including the theme music from various franchises.
The film is also very relevant touching on cyber bullying and finding your place in a world that can be overwhelming at times.
There is a great stand out moment that i really enjoyed which involves a song from Vanellope and a nod to an extremely popular video game.

PROBLEMS: For a movie with such a simple plot i felt the film was a bit drawn out and stalls here and there.The commercialization is a bit overdone.

A very enjoyable ride RBTI is far better than The Emoji movie that handled everything in an obnoxious and uncharming way.

ROBIN HOOD

Robin of Loxley,returns from the Crusades to find that his life has been turned upside down and the Sheriff of Nottingham,is oppressing the people big time,and he cant have that so it's arrow time !!

PRAISE: This is a supehero movie !!
The cast which includes: Taron Egerton,Jamie Foxx,Ben Mendelsohn,Eve Hewson,Tim Minchin and Jamie Dornan seem game enough.
I actually had fun with most of the comic book stuff the film is seasoned with.There were some good action sequences

PROBLEMS:This movie blatantly stole from The Dark Knight !! They try to make changes to the Robin Hood legend to make the story intriguing but it fails to do so big time.
To many laughable moments which include Foxx dropping his accent here and there.Then you have an unarmored and un armed character walking casually through a battle !!
I like Ben Mendelsohn but he angrily snarls his threats so much i though he was going to have a stroke on screen.Cheesy dialouge throughout.
I wonder who made that light grey leather trench coat Mendelsohn wears it looked pretty sharp !!

Wait for this to hit cable !!

I wasn't aware that the classic German film Das Boot had so many version.

I know about the Theatrical version and then the later Director's Cut released on home video but all these other versions?

Ben is a photographer who has been going through hard times and keeps having nightmares and believes he may be killing other people. There is a killer on the loose called the headsmasher
At a bar pone night he meets Nina, a beautiful redhead who knows a lot about him and says they have a lot in common. When they are attacked whilst are on a date she transforms into a Shriven, a flesh eating monster and she tells Ben he is also a shriven and they are fated to be mates.
A pretty decent low budget horror with plenty female nudity
