Imagehost Problems, Imagebam, Imagevenue, PimpAndHost, PixHost, ImgBox etc - Page 200

I stumbled on to this when I opened some of my own posted images in Imagebam. After a bit of experimenting I found that I got less junk if I called the image "family safe". So now, in a rare bit of clarity on my part, I have called all IB images family safe in all of my posts for years.

Today I'm having problems with images uploaded both on imagevenue & imagebam. I strongly suspect that the fault lies with the recent (~yesterday) update to avast free antivirus. It keeps finding and blocking what it calls "VBS:Malware-gen" for many images uploaded just recently (i.e. some last day or so) to those hosts. It's a royal PITA as it claims ~1/3 to 1/2 of such images pose a threat & prevents their download/display.

I have "solved" the "problem" (not really) by turning off avast's web shield, and the images are accessible as normal. Of course, if I've just now allowed my computer to be infected then it'll be very annoying. I suppose it would be better to simply exclude those sites rather than turning web shield off globally. Have now done that & turned web shield back on, so will see how that goes.

Just did a scan & avast found no viruses.

Aside: avast free has become progressively more annoying, interface-wise, because if it finds any issues it seldom lets one choose/control what to do. It offers the button to "fix issues" but that applies to all found, when one instead may want to select some to perform & others to ignore/exclude.

I updated the definitions, removed the site exclusions, and so far no further problems, touch plastic.

Pimp said he was on it. The images were back as of about 8 AM East-Coast US time. No explanation yet as to what went wrong.

Still several earlier uploaded (older) images are missing unfortunately, it might be possible that they wil show up again later, yet do not count on this....

About an hour after it all went down they posted they were back in a different section

If past history is anything to go by if something hasnt come back follow the guidelines and report it in the bugs section
