Default Question for Christians

If it was so that it was lets say proven for the sake of argument that Jesus was infact married to Mary Magdalene or you know Mary of Bethany would that in any way actually change your faith ?

Would it really matter if he was married ?

Personally, I don't suppose it would matter, as from the little I've read, he is supposed to have been a jewish Rabbi, and as a rabbi he would probably have been expected to marry.

If He was, then the real bone of contention would be the question:

Why has the the Roman Catholic church not only 'written out' of history the fact that he was married, but also made out his wife to be nothing more than a (reformed?) prostitute?

There are clues in the Gospels that indicate that Jesus was married. Jesus is called "Rabbi," and even then, a rabbi had to be married to have that title. At the Wedding at Cana, Mary is concerned that they ran out of wine. If she were a guest, why would that be a concern for her? If she were the hostess of the wedding, then it makes sense.

Also, some are not convinced that Mary Magdalene was once a prostitute. In the early church, several women were merged into one to ease the message. Mary had "seven demons" expelled from her by Jesus. It was said that the demons represented the Seven Deadly Sins and Mary then became the poster child for repentance.

The fact that Mary Magdalene is prominently mentioned, usually the first woman named, in the Gospels should indicate her importance to Jesus.

If it were proved that Jesus and Mary were married, it wouldn't change anything for me. It would just prove that the Church has long manipulated the message.

Well believing in God and Jesus is faith and not fact based. Although as time goes on it seems more and more archaeologic finds do support some passages in the Bible.
As to books of the Bible there are many that were left out by the Church because they presented things that the Church did not want presented.
There is the Apocrypha in the Catholic Bible that includes books not in the in the Christian Bible. Then there are many books and manuscripts that were deemed to secular for the masses.

I'm afraid that the truth is that the polar opposite is actually the case. If you doubt it read this: https://probe.org/the-archaeological...-non-existent/

I was being facetious. It's a song Mary Magdalene sings in JC Superstar.
