Here's two for the price of one,That Voice with Jennifer Warnes and Call that a Voice with Joe Cocker, singing Up Where We Belong.Love the body language between the two performers here, singing a beautiful duet and you can see the dis-comfort between the two of them, check Joe's look at 1.02.

Default Willie Nelson

Like Neil Young and Bob Dylan this guy's songwriting and talent make up for an underwhelming voice that makes some peoples ears bleed. I personally like his voice and music but I like Neil and Dylan too so what the hell do I know.

Check out this clip for a sample of his voice and for some interesting video of the 1974 annual 4th of July Barbeque that Willie throws in Austin, TX.

I guess that last picture is how he feels about being on this thread.

Willie's got a better voice than Dylan and maybe on a par with Neil, but as was said in "American Pie," Willie, like Bob and Neil, has "a voice that came from you and me."

And the last pic is probably how Willie feels about the IRS or the country music establishment.

This is Knocking On Heavens Door: great great song. But if Dylan hadnt written it himself he would just naturally have been hanged from a lamp-post for doing this to it. His ignominious and violent death for this rendition would have been simply the way things had to be.

And yet...I still listened to the whole performance.
Ironically he hits more notes in that song than he ever has anywhere else.

You're pretty much right, Scoundrel. We have to look at it from another angle, though. There are a number of musical acts have been hugely successful, even though their lead singers don't necessarily have great voices.
I've never liked Bob Dylan's voice, but I love his "Like a Rolling Stone," and "Lay Lady, Lay." Mark Knopfler doesn't have a real good voice, but I've always been a big fan of Dire Straits. Rod Stewart is also someone who's had a long and successful career, without the benefit of a "musically perfect" singing voice.

I need a whole bottle of whiskey (or 2) so that what ever the hell he is singing starts to sound ok
