When my cousins visit me in France they all enjoy ris de veau, but refuse to eat sweetbreads in England. In the early 1980s, monkfish was almost only used for cat food in the UK, until Keith Floyd's tv programmes popularised the fish.

Meanwhile in the REAL world.......... Sovereignty is the key issue, now lets be realistic here, our own politicians generally don't give a shit about the electorate and are totally out of touch with same, so why should we believe that a bunch of self-serving bureaucrats in Europe would be of any use to us? Anti immigration? The liberal elite would have people believe that, and of course if anyone is gullible (or stupid) enough to accept that, then more fool them. The general public is opposed to irresponsible immigration and movement of people, we have countless thousands coming here from eastern Europe not to work but commit crime, or manipulate our welfare system, and (for now) we seem powerless to stop it. Very few oppose the influx of decent law abiding people who are prepared to work and integrate, I certainly have no problems with this but then again why should I? I'm from immigrant stock. But lets not allow reality to stand in the way of liberal bullshit, if you are a Brexiteer then you are 'far right' and a bigot, racist, Islamophobic, homophobic, and any other 'ic' or 'ist' the more mentally fragile want to throw at you. Now keep this to yourself, there are (wait for it).......Brits of Black, Asian, and East European decent who are 'Brexiteers', I suspect that these are the real racists amongst us..... |

My best friends at work have parents who came from Ghana and Italy, they are proud of their heritage and also British citizens, they are also pro Brexit and not for immigration reasons as you may have guessed, so as OJ says don't believe the hype.

So you speed, endanger others and then avoid the fine deliberately. Daft is not the word - criminal is.

It won't be that many, because on the whole the UK does planning and support better than the USA does. EG NHS, our disaster aid and so on. Some will, because they read idiot trash from right-wing panic-mongers with their own financial gain in mind. But most will just carry on as normal and be completely unsurprised when the shops still have bread, milk, Marmite and Baked Beans. As for stock-piling Insulin and so on; that is exactly what the NHS has already planned for, and there is no way that supplies will run out.
It is odd living in a country which actually works better than most countries - and certainly better than France - but has almost the same kind of hysterical press that the USA has. Sometimes it takes real effort to remember that it is the French that march on the streets and set fire to cars because their government does not listen, and the US that has a psychotic maniac as a President and a government that is actually shut down, while the UK government is carrying on as normal while we undergo the most fundamental shift in our external relations for several generations. In France this would be a revolution. In many countries it would be a civil war. Here it is a Parliamentary farce - no-one dies, schools still run, etc etc. No wonder the rest of the world does not get it. |
