The LGBTer's have the upper hand in situations like that one. The slightest sliver of an excuse to get their platform in the news will be jumped on with great glee. It seems that higher level ed institutes cater to them also.

Actually it was not Sharia law it was a British Magistrates court and the woman was found guilty of racial abuse after saying "If you are going to live in Britain, you should live by British rules. You look like you're about to bomb the place." She had a history of this, it was not a one off thing.

You wouldn't call every German a Nazi, every Russian a Commie and every sixties TV star a child molester so why would you assume all Muslims are terrorists? In much the same way as we did not assume everyone with an Irish voice was a terrorist at the height of the IRA campaign.

There is freedom of speech here but it has to be tempered with common sense.

It may be a generational thing, I wince when I hear some of the things my mother comes out with in her not so whispering voice

I would prefer her not to dress like this but would not say anything.
Would you also defend her freedom of speech if it was say an orthodox dressed Jew she was abusing?

I cycle through Bexhill most weekends, to say it's somewhere that enforces Sharia law is laughable. It's basically a retirement town of elderly white pensioners.

I'm all for freedom of speech. However, I don't believe that freedom of speech extends to harassing members of the public because you take exception to what they wear. As far as I'm aware, there is nothing in British law that says you can't cover your face in public.

Perhaps the comments were out of line, but this should have been settled with a reprimand by plod, not a court case and excessive costs which are effectively a large fine. Personally, I wouldn't give a toss if a Muslim made some kind of stupid cultural remark about me, although I might well respond. Once again it's the race card being waved about. Sad stuff.
