By coincidence, only a day or so ago I ran into word of a two part documentary called Porn King: The Rise & Fall of Ron Jeremy (2022). While composing a late 2021 post on the glorious Veronica Hart, I became aware of Jeremy's legal troubles (in the post, I see I had also mentioned having encountered the fellow once), so I was interested. On the other hand, I came upon conflicting reports on how this documentary was handled (very fair on one hand, and an attempt at vilification on the other), and didn't get the feeling it would be worthwhile. I also came upon a lighter documentary called, Porn Star: The Legend of Ron Jeremy (2001), and viewed it. Most images for this post come from this film, and the remainder are mainly captures from the IMDb's trailer of the first.

It all got started after Playgirl published
the image above, submitted by or at the
suggestion of his then-girlfriend.

While pondering over whether I might create a post, I noticed the man hailed as "porn king" has a VEF thread of his own, and was I startled to read the message directly above. (Thank you, Ron2k7! This latest wrinkle on Jeremy's trial and tribulations was big news. I also see you've been around since 2006, making you a part of VEF royalty.)

One of the talking heads was this
unidentified blonde, presumably
a performer in adult films. She is
absolutely gorgeous! (Who is she?)

I read the article Ron2k7 linked to, and it's not that Jeremy was found not guilty, but that he has pretty much lost his mind through dementia (and has also suffered hearing loss), and was no longer competent to be tried. What I found to be as illuminating (at times) were the comments for the article — many of which were brutal, of course.

marrying. He claimed that she got religious
and began to regard porn as evil, and
began to hate him as well.

If Ron Jeremy ever forced himself on a woman, especially to the point of actual rape, then he deserved everything he got. On the other hand, as we have seen from what sometimes grew to be #MeToo hysteria, there are women who have later regrets from consensual encounters and allow themselves to be overtaken by a victim's mentality — and some have been known to take advantage of how accusations could lead to the limelight. This is the problem with "He said, she said" testimony, where factual evidence may be evasive.

Mr. Jeremy was in a video with fourteen girls, where he remarkably maintained an erection for four hours. Several actresses
also testified he was known for giving cunnilingus like no other.

This Guardian article which examined the two-part documentary comes from the perspective that Jeremy was a predator, and the plight porn actresses (who have been assaulted) find themselves in. One heartbreaking piece concerned an actress named Lianne Young, who "describes chatting to people at an industry party when he came up behind her, pushed her over a table and shoved his penis inside her. It all took about four or five seconds. He has lived, she says, rent-free in her head ever since." If that indeed took place, it's sickening, as well as horrifying.

Then there was another account I found to be interesting, given how many are familiar with the famed accuser. "The former adult film star Ginger Lynn says Jeremy raped her in 1983, after she and her then boyfriend refused to let him join in a sex scene they had been filming earlier that day. The next day, on her 21st birthday, he was used as a last-minute substitute for another sex scene with her..." Is that when the alleged rape took place, while they were engaged in the scene she didn't want to do with him? Then there was this:

"Several of them query why Lynn worked with Jeremy on more than one occasion after the alleged rape. She 'did a dumb thing' when 'trying to get closure,' she says – an impulse that anyone who has tried desperately to normalise a terrible thing will recognise." The article's author has clearly chosen sides, but this story (and I know nothing more then these passages) does not come across as terribly convincing.

In the 2001 documentary I watched, Jeremy, accustomed to the land of female plenty, constantly accosts the women he comes across in public. Given his celebrity, the ladies seem to have regarded his molestations as a privilege. If any other man were to pull down a woman's top and proceed to fondle a breast, such a move would lead to his ruin. Given the context of who Ron Jeremy is and what he is known for, should the man be permitted more leeway than the average Joe could expect?

The 2001 documentary also had this telling quote by the film's subject: "I only got hurt by two things that really got to me... There was Jerry Butler's book that bothered me a little bit, 'cause I thought he was mean for no particular reason. And the article in New Yorker by Susan Faludi, I thought was very mean — because we became friends, and she said things that were not particularly me, and I live to gross people out. Things that were very poison. Like, I don't mind insults. But it's that little poison attached... it kind of hurts me." Imagine if he really was not guilty as charged, and being at the receiving end of incalculably "bigger" poison.

Jeremy has already paid a heavy price, although if he truly engaged in rape (and not just one), the price was not nearly heavy enough. At any rate, if his mind has come to be shot (more than a few commentators from the article linked in the post above believe Jeremy has been faking it, although I don't think so), given how many of us have fondly "grown up" with him, it's all a very depressing and lamentable, and tragic, situation.

The doc also made reference to how tightfisted
the man was; he joked, "You name one Jew who
money's not important to." Others commented
he could also be generous. Ron explained he
wanted to be secure in his old age.
