Obama made 3.2 million on the last speech I heard about earlier this year.

The Arctic Ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals are finding the water too hot, according to a report to the Commerce Department yesterday from Consulate at Bergen Norway

Reports from fishermen, seal hunters and explorers all point to a radical change in climate conditions and hitherto unheard-of temperatures in the Arctic zone.

Exploration expeditions report that scarcely any ice has been met as far north as 81 degrees 29 minutes.

Soundings to a depth of 3,100 meters showed the Gulf Stream still very warm.

Great masses of ice have been replaced by moraines of earth and stones, the report continued, while at many points well known glaciers have entirely disappeared.

Very few seals and no white fish are found in the eastern Arctic, while vast shoals of herring and smelt which have never before ventured so far north, are being encountered in the old seal fishing grounds.

Within a few years it is predicted that due to the ice melt the sea will rise and make most coastal cities uninhabitable.

I must apologize.

I neglected to mention that this report was from November 2, 1922, as reported by the AP and published in The Washington Post - 94 years ago.

This must have been caused by the Model T Ford's emissions or possibly from horse and cattle flatulence?

Don't believe it , even the leftist SNOPES says it's true !!

Canute. What a loser. Can't even hold back the sea. It's just water. We're going to be so tough on the sea! Canute was too soft. Sad.

I don't know how practical or difficult it would be to do such a thing but it certainly seems better than the current system.
When I buy a cinema ticket for my local multi-plex online I have to put the relevant payment card in to the machine at the venue to receive my tickets. Why isn't this system being used?

Part of the reason for the various excellent ideas mentioned not being used, is sadly one of logistics, each of these methods would cause long delays at turnstiles, entry ways and the like. To me the best and simplest method is to limit the maximum order to say five, not as daft as at first appearance, a lot of games and gigs I have been to, with assorted brats in tow, often mean that they have to drag a mate along for support, especially my female off spring, either that or they know Dad is a soft touch and will pay for their mate too! BTW I was most touched on one occasion when I took my lad to Cardiff, his mate came along and when we got back, the lad drew a large note from his pocket to pay his share! Silly sod! If he had done that in Cardiff, he could have bought himself something from the shop! I of course did not take it! Soft Touch!

So limit sales to a maximum of five, except in bonnafide, clubs and the like, and although it will not stop touts, it might help cut it, and make it a criminal offence to use a ticket bought this way, hard to detect, but the threat might help!

And since when do you believe leftists?

By the way, they also added this in their article:

As interesting as this nearly century-old article might be from a modern perspective, however, it isn’t substantive evidence either for or against the concept of anthropogenic global warming. As documented elsewhere, the warming phenomena observed in 1922 proved to be indicative only of a local event in Spitzbergen, not a trend applicable to the Arctic as a whole.

Not exactly topical but must stand up for Canute.

He was no fool - he knew he could not hold back the sea. He did what he did to prove his sycophants wrong and that part of the intrigue gets lost in the telling.

(Apologies BTW if you knew this vinceprince. Just need to speak up for the old boy. )

And what is the real cause of all our environmental problems? It seems to be a taboo subject that nobody wants to discuss? Simple. Too many people in the world. And for this reason, things can only get worse and worse.
