From the Daily Mail.
Did you know that Joan R Ginther won the Texas state lottery 4 times - at odd of 18 septillion to 1...and that is a lot of noughts! The hull of the Titanic was insured for £1m in 1912 - the equivalent of £95m in today's money. It cost more than a penny in raw materials to make a penny. The $ dollar sign does not appear on any US dollar bills.

Did you know that the famous Rank Organisation gong, seen being hit by a muscle-bound chap was actually hit off camera by a percussionist called James Blades.
The voice for Thunderbirds' Parker was based on a waiter that worked at a pub in Cookham, near Windsor and one day David Graham and others went in and got him talking-he used to drop his aitches and it turned out he had worked in the Royal Household. Graham was also a voice of a Dalek in Doctor Who.

As the Germans celebrate and commemorate the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1987, I am reminded of a story that said on one part of the Wall was a single line from, it appeared a Blackadder series fan. It read "Don't worry, Baldrick has a cunning plan!"

Strange thing. I heard recently, having wondered for years myself, that the tune 'The Reflex' by Duran Duran was actually made up in about 10mins and even Simon Le Bon had no idea what it meant-they were just too drunk and came up with it in a short time. Darn it! I thought it might have some meaning, but like The Riddle by Nik Kershaw, you can look into it and analyse it all you like, it is simply nonsense.

This is most interesting. Did you know the Glee type of singing, as seen in the US and all over the world with kids-a FAME of the naughties, actually has it's origins in Britain and not the USA-it was for men only and consisted of four different voices together. It crossed the pond to the USA via the Universities who formed their own 'clubs' as a Glee was a type of song.

Over time, a number of athletes hit the gong. Probably the best known was British and Empire heavyweight boxing champion Bombardier Billy Wells.
