------------------- This is one of my favorite films. I watched it again last night. (Turner Classic Movies On Demand). ------- Today I'm watching Girl with a Pearl Earring (2003) IMDb rating - 7.0 I feel Scarlett Johansson is an over-rated actress. Sexy yes but good actress. She did a decent job in this good film though. Quote [referring to a yellow paint which comes from cow's urine, used in Vermeer's portrait of Mistress van Ruijven] Van Ruijven: You've glazed my wife in dried piss. I Married a Woman (1958)
Watched this weak romantic comedy hoping to spot 50s Playmate Marilyn Hanold and ended up being floored by Ms Dors. How did Average Joe comedian George Gobel land a plum role alongside this goddess? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0051757/ Thanks to Mr Bond for the posters. |

Back to C movie madness
Reel Evil (2012) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2388920/ To get some money to bankroll their own project 3 wannabe filmmakers accept an offer to document behind the scenes of a movie being shot in a closed asylum Think I've been here before more than a few times but there may be something new ..... www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMftxJWr34w |

Hold Your Breath (2012)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2240312/ Opens with a flashback to the execution of a convicted serial killer that doesn't quite go off as well as was intended and a curse on those who attended the execution. Switch to modern times and a group of rowdy randy youths head off for a weekend break ... cue the new urbane myth that if you go past a cemetery you must hold your breath or the soul of an evil person that hell would not take will inhabit them. www.youtube.com/watch?v=48Cb3ylhJfc |

12 Angry Men (1957)
directed by Sidney Lumet. starring Henry Fonda, Lee J. Cobb, E. G. Marshall,
Martin Balsam, Jack Warden, John Fiedler, Jack Klugman, Edward Binns, Joseph Sweeney, Ed Begley, George Voskovec, and Robert Webber. a great Sunday kind of movie. so many stars in this, you'd think your staring up at the sky on a clear night! it's interesting how they seemingly filmed this using only one set, and none of the characters are referred to by their name. |

So far ,so-so. True most reviews ripped it apart, the story is not remotely new , music stinks and it`s lower in budget than a film budget that`s beyond embarrassing low. Yet all the same Then again i`ve only been watching it for six minutes

Been on a documentary tour of North Korea lately. Before they nuke themselves out of existence, I figured I'd take a look at all the hub bub.
Crossing the Line: A 2006 documentary and interview with former PFC James Dresnok who in 1962, during the Korean War, did the unthinkable and defected to communist North Korea and continues to live as one of its citizens. He, along with several other american defectors were used as propaganda tools in various NK movies, portraying immoral capitalists and other negative US characters. Interesting interviews with Dresnok and his NK family and friends and another former defector. Though he seems to be totally content in his environment, one can only imagine how closely he was being monitored by english-speaking NK officials who were off-camera, waiting for him to criticize NK and it's leaders. Netflix. 8.0 National Geographic: Inside North Korea: Posing as medical coordinators, promising cataract surgery to NK citizens, NG secretly filmed oppressive korean life north of the DMZ. Lots of testimony from former NK citizens who defected to the south. On Netflix. (2006) 7.5 Vice Guide to North Korea: Sixteen journalists are allowed to enter NK to cover the annual Arirang Games in Pyongyang. Though most of the places the journalists were allowed to visit were obviously fake and contrived settings, they were able to get hidden camera footage of other more secretive things. Because of the restrictive nature of the visit, the more interesting aspects of this doc are facts about how the NK government officials gave the crew the runaround before letting them enter NK and facts about the DMZ. Still quite fascinating. On Snagfilmsdotcom. (2008) 6.0 |
