Couple of observations on Hef vs Guccione:

Hef was a repressed midwest Protestant overcoming the weight of his moral tradition . . . he really was a "revolutionary" in terms of where he came from.

Guccione was culturally Italian (born in Brooklyn), a painter -- there was nothing "forbidden" about naked chicks for him, no revolution in saying "the body is nice to look at"

If she only got $1 then Gooch was probably not behind it. If it was for the full amount of $4M then I would not have put that past him!

That was a really hot spread! She looked in her prime and was actually a redhead in that pictorial, which no-one had ever seen before. That is the only PH issue I actually remember the date.
