Money and mouth.
I check labels and will not buy if production moves abroad. HP sauce is now made Holland, so no sale. Chauvinist? I think not. I want to buy from around the world but there has to be a connection between lives and livings. I can see no good reason for much of the export of labels, which is what is going on here. If the name changes (Santander) then at least one knows the score. It's a Spanish Bank. I buy Lindt chocolate knowing what I am doing. I'm not exporting British jobs. The idea we could be blasé about this 'globalisation' of British industry and manufacture has been cruelly exposed – or soon will be.

For those not clear about The above post by Danton, the H.P. in the sauce that was made in england before they shut down the manufacturing base means Houses of Parliament.
Personally I am starting to question the 'Fair Trade' ethos; it only applies to foreigners. Only recently have farmers been able to get more than the cost price for their milk. I know if I had to get up at half four in the morning to wank a cows tit it would be cheaper to put Baileys on your cornflakes |
