Gold "flavoured" food...
The Billionaire’s Soft Serve, on sale at Selfridges, is produced by the ice cream maker Snowflake, and claims to be Britain’s most expensive ice cream, complete with a gold leaf-coated flake and spoon, yours for for £99 ($127). It weighs 350g and requires two hands to eat. The ice cream is housed in a wafer cone, dipped in dark chocolate and coated in golden pearls. Inside, the gelato is scattered with caramelised pecans and Belgian white chocolate truffles. Edible “diamonds”, along with a raspberry sorbet macaroon and fruit-filled pipettes, are placed on top. But....the Billionaire’s Soft Serve is frozen out by the competition from America. The Golden Opulence Sundae, sold at New York café Serendipity 3, is completely covered in gold leaf, delivered in a Baccarat crystal bowl goblet to take home, and needs to be ordered 48 hours in advance. It costs $1,000. Yuck! Food definitely created for those with more money than sense....

My family was invited to a Christmas day dinner by some good friends of ours in
Macon, Georgia back in 1993. Our host's wife was of Scandinavian descent and prepared her traditional lutefisk dish which still haunts my dreams to this day! I knew I was in trouble when I stepped though the door and the house smelled of burning garbage! She also made a roasted turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and green bean casserole of which I ate healthy portions. |

This thread triggered the memory of a particularly memorable meal. My dear ex-wife and I met another couple for dinner at a highly regarded Indian restaurant in San Francisco. After studying the menu, I ordered the Chicken Vindaloo dinner. The ex asked me as I ordered if that was really a good idea and, in my ignorance, I assured her that the meal would be quite tasty. My first bite of the chicken revealed what a horrible blunder had been made. But, having brushed off my wife's suggestion, I was forced to choke down the entire meal in an attempt to save face. I burned my mouth, my innards burned thereafter, and I truly suffered as the remains left me. I did confirm my ex's belief that I am an egotistical idiot, however.

Granted it`s usually others who decide somebody needs it rather than the deranged addict
Butt still
Cobble together an intervention Fellow Forum Fellas , as I think (Hey , it could happen ) I've a problem. Aside from the mental ones of course Because once more and for lunch I ate . That`s right , something with a shelf life of Mean it`s not even if it`s a semi almost decent cup a soup. Hardly surprising since the main ingredient is salt. Although in my defense , it was on sale at three boxes for £1.50. Oh and I`d just like to send out many thanks for all the supportive pm`s I've received about my addiction , to being a suicidally cheap bastard Pm`s sent bizarrely while I was writing this post

@Hertz: I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with soup. I am currently on a pre-surgical diet for the next ~2 weeks, and one of the 6 servings per day permitted to me (in order to shrink my liver) is Campbell's Healthy Request. It's OK, but I don't think I feel like I'm a free man eating the same exact portion for two weeks straight. Last night, possibly because of the meeting I had to attend, or possibly getting used to this pre-op diet, I actually regurgitated an ungodly amount of food. This might be a sign of things to come, or it might be like my dietitian claiming that "it takes two days to get used to it..."

strange Hungarian bread crumbs
Quote:
One of the worst thing I ate was in a Budapest's restaurant in 1992. I was with schoolmates and we requested a typical Hungarian meal. There brought us like compressed bread crumbs badly flavored. I ate one piece and almost wanted to vomit. I do not remember the name and I don't regret it. Last edited by Roubignol; September 13th, 2017 at 08:55 PM.. |
