No central information database to keep track of where the children went and where the parents went.

Plus a judge ruled all those children held somewhere need to be reunited with their parents who are held somewhere too, all of them scattered across the USA in many facilities, by July 10th.

YEAH GOOD LUCK WITH GETTING THAT DONE!

Just the typical government at work and it's the same with any government of any country.

Too big, too bloated, too stupid.

Good at passing something, not good at having a plan to implement it.
This is hardly an accurate description of the U.S. two years ago. After World War Two the leadership of Western countries thought that having a world war every couple of decades was a shitty way to do things, so they set up a multi-lateral way of resolving disputes and knitting societies together. It worked by fits and starts, and by 2016 was working well enough to be boring.

The people who voted for Trump and his cabinet wanted to see how the U.S. would do if it were to be run by a cabal of incompetent fools and fascists.

They are finding out.

Having to carry both the Euro and the GBP was annoying and also, everything was more expensive in London.

A basic hotel room was about $250-300 a night and I ain't talking about a 4-5 stars hotel, this was about 2009.

Now I just looked and it's even higher, as high as $500 a night for a basic room.

I remember paying 22 GBP for a sandwich and a non alcoholic drink at lunch during one of my 2 days stops in London in 2008.

That's about $29 U.S.D.

My sister and my brother went to the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

They tried to get me to join them.

I said count me out!

It's already so expensive there and I bet they doubled, tripled, quadrupled the prices on everything for the Olympics.
Where exactly did they charge you £22 GBP for a sandwich and a drink? Even in 2008, the supermarkets were offering a £3 meal deal which would include yoghurt or some form of sugar-rubbish as well as a sandwich and a drink. Even at Heathrow Airport you can a damned good meal at Harry Ramsden's for less than £22 - in 2018.

Not sure what hotels you looked at but the only hotels in that category are the exclusive West End Hotels, priced very similarly to their equivelants world wide, if you are really looking about £47 is easy to find and there are cheaper there too.

The sandwich must have been in a top hotel, at that time we used to eat in a restaurant in the middle of Soho for about £15 for a full meal!

I lived close to the Olympic site during the Games, prices remained the same as before and after, I am sure that some Hotels tried to charge higher prices, but most stayed much the same, but food and drink were the same, but of course premium prices were charged inside the Olympic Park, as they are at all venues worldwide.

As scounds says, that is strange as even today you can get a meal deal in any UK supermarket, a sandwich, drink and sweet or fruit for about £5!

.

There are plenty of pretty decent 2 star hotels on or near Kings Cross and Euston Station well under £100 a night; clean, comfortable, decent facilities inc. broadband and a hotel bar. They aren't brothels neither, though I bet some of them used to be in the heyday of London KX as a red light district. It's gone upmarket now - I haven't seen girls loitering under lampposts round there since the 1990s.

Is that where Jack the Ripper was active?
