Why are these folks resigning over Brexit?
Weren't they around in the government already when Brexit was approved? Sorry. I am American here. I haven't followed the whole Brexit thing. I've heard about it but don't know all the details except that GB is leaving the EU by 2019 and it was voted and approved by someone. So what does it matter who resigns? The deal has already been approved and it was just a matter of coming to an agreement with the EU on the details. |

Problem is the referendum was such a blunt instrument. It just asked do you want to be in the E.U. or not. Once the "No!" answer came, there were a thousand differing views on what it all meant. Hence the arguing and in-fighting ever since. The Conservative government is totally split on the whole thing...as are the opposition to be fair. So a whole can of worms was opened with no real plan in place. With Boris it is a matter of personalities and individual clout. For some reason a large tranche of the population take notice of what he thinks and does. Lord knows why. |

What it means is those who voted to stay in the EU got all pissed off and then resorted to what we call way down here in the Colonies as "Whinging Pom" Sorry , was there for the taking

Well this Brexit thing sounds like the whole Immigration plan we have here with the children and parents being separated when caught at the borders trying to enter the US illegally.
Now they have no idea how to reunite over 2000-3000 children. No central information database to keep track of where the children went and where the parents went. Plus a judge ruled all those children held somewhere need to be reunited with their parents who are held somewhere too, all of them scattered across the USA in many facilities, by July 10th. YEAH GOOD LUCK WITH GETTING THAT DONE! Just the typical government at work and it's the same with any government of any country. Too big, too bloated, too stupid. Good at passing something, not good at having a plan to implement it. Last edited by Reclaimedwg; July 9th, 2018 at 03:15 PM.. |

The fact is they don't know what the hell the public voted for because that question was not asked. It was just in or out! Now we have a battle between "soft" and "hard" Brexiteers - not leavers and remainers. And, speaking as a remainer, I ask what is the point of a soft Brexit if it means we are still virtually in the E.U.? So it is the soft Brexit idea that has become untenable even among remainers like me. If we are going, let's go. As Herod said to Claudius "let all the poisons that are in the mud hatch out". |

Yes, the stage is certainly set for considerable damage to the economy and everything that goes with it if this country continues to be run by dithering amateurs. Unfortunately, we also have a totally unacceptable opposition, who might be even worse in power, so these are quite worrying times, I'd say.

But I would never have guessed Brexit could get a majority. That was shocking! But it was more shocking that they didn't have a law (Constitution) telling them that upending the country requires a super-majority of 60% or more for drastic changes to everyone's existence. I don't know a single modern country whose Constitution would allow that It will take an extraordinary leader to solve this. If you find one, keep him and don't let him go, no matter what party he is -- forget your adversarial thinking, and turn your common-sense on. Good luck! |
