Also, for those who don't know, The Fake Detective is shutting down his website.

December 21, 2011 - Updated the history page to show that on December 20 The Fake Detective completed 15 years of service to mankind.

15 years may be enough. The Fake Detective is contemplating shutting down this web site. It seems to have served its purpose. People are rarely fooled by fakes these days. And, when a new fake appears that fools someone, there are usually many others who point the fake out immediately and show how it was created.

Also, The Fake Detective is extremely busy writing another book about the Anthrax attacks of 2001, which was a very serious matter. People who want to discredit his findings in that case frequently point to his early cases as The Fake Detective to show that he cannot be taken seriously.

It has not yet been decided when the site will be shut down, but the plan is for it to happen sometime early in 2012.

February 2, 2012 - The current plan is to shut down this web site in mid-March, 2012.

Aw. Well, times change, and the celeb pic scene aint what it used to be. Not at all like it was 10-15 years ago. Todays content is pretty; eh. As I look back, Paris hilton was kind of a pinnacle for the oops/outtake/papparazzi thing. Today 1/2 of the pseudo-celebs start out with porn tapes and just get more weird, the red carpet glamour has turned just plain pathetic, and movies may as well say "Disney" instead of a mpaa tag. Too bad FD is shutting down, I wonder how long cndb and scoopy will continue? Robbs is gone since he died With the filehosts taking such big hits the clip scene is in dire jeopardy as well.

But don't automatically assume your nude is a fake if it's on the above list. For instance if you check the archive for case 351, you'll find that it says that the nude of Bijou Phillips is from US Playboy and is genuine, while the fake is from Russian Playboy, which has censored the pic by adding a bikini. That's probably rare, but it may not be unique.

there was also a case where the not nude was fake and Drew Barrymore's nipple was visible in the sumo wrestler pic. A strange reversal from the norm.

nope. supposedly, it was a backstage from her Vegas show. It's been argued in mags like der Bunny and High Society and Celeb Sleuth since before there was an internet, lol.
