Another in my collection. A Jagdtiger from the Tamiya model range painted and crafted by griff993. This vehicle was commanded by Otto Carius tank ace and chief officer of the 512th Heavy Antitank Battalion composed of Jagdtigers.

From a military point of view it might have been better to focus resources on the Jagdpanther. At the latter stages of the war there was a growing realization in the German military for the need for simpler designs that could be mass produced more easily with a less skilled workforce. Indeed some of the late designs were modular pre-empting the course that tank design went postwar with one design chassis the basis for various types of vehicles with differing roles.

But by this time the Americans could field the M26 Pershing, the IS-2 despite a low firing rate had proven it's effectiveness in the east amd air superiority rendered the Jagdtiger impotent to a greater extent as did fuel shortages amd mechanical reliability was a great issue. Not to mention the overwhelming numerical superiority in tanks that the Allies possessed.
