We don't even know all the forms that life might take in our universe so we may not immediately recognize it if we do stumble across some. We are even continually surprised by the forms of life we find on our own planet!

The governments official reference for all things UFO. Hope this helps.
Please note all spelling is theirs not mine.

Hmmm. There is an amazing lack of "Commie Bastards/Capitalist Assholes", "Domestic Political Opponents", "(Other-)Religious Insurgents", "Targets of Economic Opportunity" and other official favorites on this list.

The bureaucracy will need to update it soon.

On a slightly serious note, the F117 Nighthawk was (quite understandably) cloaked in secrecy for years, as was the B2 Spirit. Even as an aviation enthusiast, if I'd seen either of those things before they were made public, I'd have definitely had a "what the hell is that?" moment! They truly would have been Unidentified Flying Objects!

Bear in mind that the next generation stealth fighter/bomber, spy-plane, unmanned drone is probably pootling around up there, confusing the hell out of anyone who sees it!

picture the scene. 1966, I was fourteen, with two friends, walking around Hampton Court. We were keen anglers at the time and Hampton Court has a couple of lakes worth fishing and we were checking them out. Having done that, we walked out down a corridor and past a room that was supposed to have held one of Henry VIII wives the night before her head parted company from her body. As we walked past I heard the most heart rendering sobbing. One of my friends turned to me and said did you hear that? My other friend said hear what? Two of us heard it, the other didn't. it only lasted a few seconds, quite weird, a little, no, quite scary at the age of 14 and totally unexplainable that two of us heard it but the other friend didn't.

I understand the countless solar systems that make up our universe mean the probability of other life forms is a certainty........

but we might be the most advanced/intelligent evolutions of all time.

As far as creation goes, it doesn't get any better than this.

I seen this article and immediately thought of this thread.
Why? Because it is a good example of secret governmental technology almost biting someone on the butt.

I wonder if these cops had a 'holy crap' moment when they found out how close they came to getting blown up real good?

Sorry TC095, but it's more like an example of an urban myth!
There's been the same story doing the rounds about Californian Highway Patrol Officers locking onto an F18, and the one I hear most often is about two Officers in Yorkshire deliberately targeting an aircraft.

The big give-away to the "urban myth" status is that the RAF are said to describe Sidewinders as "air-to-ground missiles". They're air-to-air heat-seekers, not anti-radar missiles. Also, without going into the technicalities of radar, each system has it's own "signature" so an aircraft's on-board sensors can tell what's tracking it. As for the Dutch pilot (hopefully not flying a Dutch Tornado!) having to "override the automatic protection system before the missile was launched" ... I think not!
