My Favourite Dog was my poodle x maltese.
She passed away nearly 12 months ago. An incredibly smart and affectionate dog. I would take her everywhere with me and she loved it. We were only ever kicked out of two places, Bunnings hardware and a motorcycle accessories shop. Any other hardware chain was fine. hepatocutaneous syndrome was the disease that killed her. The vet specialists gave her 6 weeks to live on the 5th of March 2011. I would not give up trying because she loved life so much. We managed to keep her alive with a combination of human antibiotics and supplements until the 17th of January 2013. Nearly 2 years I got with her or 98 weeks not 6. Cheers |

rescue dogs
from first hand experience I can attest that rescue dogs know that they're in a better place.
my mother got a schipperke that had been used as a breeder at a puppy mill. mill was raided and a breed specific rescue group took them all. mom adopted and gave one a home. 6 years old and never out of a small cage. first full day at moms home she took it out for a walk to help transition to a normal life. ran into a much larger dog also out for a walk. the little schip panicked and got off her leash and ran away. mom, of course, ran all over the neighborhood looking for her dog. Now, this was 1/4 mile away from her house. she came home to call me and get more help to find the dog. Here's the amazing part: having only been at moms house for one night, and never having been in the neighborhood, there when mom got home on her front doorstep was the little dog. of all the dogs my family has owned this one was the most affectionate and loyal and protective did everything she could to please mom. I volunteered at an animal shelter and rescued dogs pay back 10 fold the love you give them. If you want or are planning on getting a dog visit a shelter or your local animal control and consider an older dog, you won't regret it. |
