I was in for five nights for heart surgery last August.

Amazing staff, TV if you wanted and really pretty good food considering large scale catering. I had a decent curry and a truly class lamb hot pot or two. Good NHS hotel.

Just saying to be really smug and annoying.

I guess it depends on what was done. I had lower back surgery, spent the night. They got me up mid morning and when I proved I could walk the floor sent on my way.
I also have had my right shoulder surgically repaired twice. Blew my rotator cuff and my bicep off both times. Operated on, woke up in recovery and when I was mostly out of knock out stuff they let go home.
Now all three I had to have some one to drive and supposedly stay with me.
This is the top medical chain in my area IMO. No problems.
I think with a major op like say heart replacement you ain't going anywhere immediately though.
