Smokers in the morning.

Just back from a Stupid Learning Experience. Stuck with 16 other wankers for 4 days and 3 nights. Most were pretty decent and everyone got on well in the bar at night. In the morning at breakfast we were split into tables of 3 or 4. For the first 2 mornings. I had to endure certain persons who were happy to try and cough their guts out in front of me whilst I was trying to have breakfast.
On the last morning I had by then found a little cafe where I though I could get a little refuge over breakfast. Guess where the only other customers sat. At the next table, aged between 30/35 both coughing their guts out.

Glad to be home.

Today I spoke with an old man who is 90 years old.
Damned... He smoked all his life.
But... he has an horrible bad breath. A mixture between old cigarette and... vomit.
I had to back off two steps when he was speaking to me.
That's a shame, because his stories could have been interesting, but... "barrrfff" this breath was soo awful. I didn't want to listen to them.

I had no complaints about the people it was just that they felt that coughing their guts up at breakfast in front of strangers was acceptable behaviour.

Not one made an effort to leave the table or even apologise.

This is a time of year when it pays to be a bit cautious around other people and doing less obvious things like not touching shop doors - I wear gloves at the moment when I'm out. This is because I've had two doses of the norovirus at Christmas time during the last 5 years and the second one was seriously unpleasant and almost put me in hospital.

Incidentally, my idiot local general practice has installed a touch screen for arriving patients to register with. Not for me thanks!

I was going to say something about how annoying it is to be surrounded by so many stupid people. But the smoking discussion reminded me that I made decisions at several times to start, continue, or resume smoking. Those were not the only poor choices I have made in life or the only times when there was ample evidence to guide me towards making a better decision.

One thing that is really annoying is the difficulty in making changes and changing habits. Most especially it is hard when one's body has deteriorated and it is impossible to get nearly the amount done in a day that used to be done almost without thinking.

Addiction has nothing to do with intelligence, it has more to do with the willingness and the level of addiction.

I do remember a doctor telling at the radio that a lot of his patients prefered to take medicines or pills everyday instead to change their habits.

We are like electrons. When we found a good orbit to stay, even parasitized by several aspects, then we need a nuclear footkick in the ass to move from that orbit to a new one... even if the new one would be much better.

I'm thinking some of you have been through what I've been through a few times on this forum and have the problem now.

This very forum becomes annoying and you just have to step back a day or 3 from it Been on that much the past 15 days it becomes too much .... I've been logged on most of last night and most of tonight but been watching Justified instead .

It'll pass,
