I would say yes. But it is a subject that gets dragged down by bullshit. All the hoax videos etc means people just don't believe.

I was with my dad today and mentioned aliens. We have both witnessed "UFOs" meaning there was something in the sky we thought was strange. He recounted his "sight" and said it was like a cigar tube. Then we talked about the then secret USA listening base a few miles away, maybe it was a plane or something.
My "sight" was very strange lights in the sky. Square and triangular don't know what it was, but I was there.

All to often people think UFO means "alien spaceship". Ironically, if anyone knew for certain they were looking at an alien spaceship, it wouldn't be unidentified, so wouldn't be a UFO! I have an open mind on the subject. However, two things advanced intelligent beings would not do. 1. Fly around at night with their lights on hoping no one would see them! 2. Anally probe rednecks (in preference to, say, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders)!! |

In the UK if you've seen something strange which can't be explained by conventional means there's a chance you've had a fleeting glimpse of the Halo stealth plane.
Halo = 'High Altitude / Agility, Low Observability" It might be a variant of the Typhoon Eurofighter but hard evidence is hard to come by. |

I would add to that the Aurora black project. The US military denials are accurate; black projects are not officially on the books and carry plausible deniability (examples of aerial black projects are the U-2 spy plane and the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird, both of which flew out of the infamous Area 51 for years before being publicly acknowledged). Interestingly, UFO researchers have been on the case of Aurora, along with aerospace writers like Bill Sweetman and Nick Cook (Cook is someone who I loathe, but that's a whole different story). I've got copies of the now sadly defunct British UFO Magazine that have articles about Aurora and Nick Redfern talks about Aurora in one of his books (although I'll be buggered if I can remember which one ).

Shodan?
Do you believe the US would let a top secret plane out-and-about over the UK? :-) If it helps any, before the Internet age I did get some info that Halo operated out of RAF Brize Norton. Could be bullsh*t, could be prize-winning manure |

I heard about Aurora before I was online, if that actually means anything. I did hear about an odd stealth craft (that wasn't the Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk (AKA the stealth fighter) or the Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit (stealth bomber)) that was photographed at a British RAF base. It was reportedly smaller than both of these craft. (Oddly, I can't find the photo online - spooky; if I can find it in UFO Magazine, I may scan it in and post it). I think it depends on the development stage of the craft; the B-2 Spirit's first flight was in 1989 and it was publicly acknowledged in 1997. There was no way the stealth bomber was limited to the Area 51 testing ground for all of that time. It may be that we're talking about the same plane, but under different project names. Who knows?

I read somewhere that even if there are 10,000 space-faring races in the galaxy there would still be 10 million star systems per race! And thats assuming these races exist today and not say a million years ago.
I believe one day we will get into space and explore other systems. I know you can't break the light barrier but maybe we can find a way to get around it using i don't know, hyperspace or warp drive or something. We may consider it impossible today, that's with the thinking of today but tomorrow, we may think differently, just like when they used to say the Earth was flat and you could sail off the edge of the map. Here there be dragons... |
