That was put on the family's Facebook page so proud the boy felt that he was emulating his idol......... But guess what happened next
What happened next was an Aboriginal Mother from Cairns heard about the ruckus over the young boy dressing as his hero, Nic.
Embarrassed & annoyed, she decided to point out the 'double standards' as she had painted her daughters' face White to emulate her hero, a Dr Seuss character in 2013 and they received no criticism or backlash.
Ms. Bee said she felt proud that the little boy decided to paint himself black and said his mother has her 'full support'

IMNSHO (in my not so humble opinion) The main problem is there are too many people just waiting to be offended
..then publicly being seen to be 'doing the correct & honourable thing'
They are the arseholes who are the problem, not just simply Political correctness.

While the argument still rages, Nic Naitanui spoke out after the incident made headlines, saying he didn't believe the mother intended to cause harm but that it was important to understand the consequences of using black face.
Bit of a kop-out really.

It's the "free exercise thereof" which seems to be forgotten.
What most people neglect is the first word: Congress. The legislature of the United States is not allowed to pass laws abrogating the free expression of its citizens. Clemson University is not Congress. It is not part of the South Carolina university system, so it can do as it pleases towards the rights of those attending the university.

Now having said that, what Clemson is doing is so stupid, I'm having trouble wrapping my head around it.

The guts of this story, Queensland University of Technology has a computer room for students, set aside for indigenous students. Some students who were not indigenous went to use the room which was not being used for their own studies, were then kicked out because of their race, One of the students went on to post on facebook that the uni was fighting racism by actually using segregation But that comment offended.

We have an idiotic racial vilification law here, and under section 18c
Quote:
it unlawful for someone to do an act that is reasonably likely to “offend, insult, humiliate or intimidate” someone because of their race or ethnicity.
That word "reasonably" is so open that the politically correct clowns can seize upon it and exploit it

The Abbott Government wanted it changed, but due to the left and PC media, the Government backed down, went something like that anyway.

That law seems reasonable & sensible
but there are a certain type who will interpret it differently & need to be seen to be doing the 'right thing'

They do it for all our protection don't y'know

Oddly & coincidentally (regarding the previous story) I recall an old proverb or such-like that said to identify the problem you must smear the ghosts face with ink , I think it was from a book of Japanese or Chinese wisdom.

What it implies is that you should seek the source of the problem clearly & shame it

* Disclaimer for the hard of thinking
No offence is meant by the act of smearing any face of any race or background with whatever colour ink is available

Why do so many black Americans have to be called African-Americans?

If I was an American of any race, I'd be proud to simply be called an American.

Seems to me, you're either in or you're out, but what do I know?

Every Christmas in the UK, a set of special Christmas postage stamps is usually issued. In Christmas 2005, they issued a set but the 68p stamp was withdrawn for fear the picture on it would 'offend' Hindus and Indians living in Britain. With this in mind, it was claimed that this withdrawn stamp would become rare and valuable so I decided to buy a sheet as a hopeful 'investment'. When I went to the post office to buy the sheet of naughty offensive stamps the counter staff, who were all Indian, laughed when I told them about that value being withdrawn as it could cause offence and told me that none of them were offended by it.

I wonder if it's not the case that political correctness is there to serve (and provide work for) those that instigate and enforce it rather than those it's claimed to 'protect'.

See http://www.collectgbstamps.co.uk/exp...ars/?year=2005 for the offending stamp and scroll down.

@thunderfly,

PC was 'officially' invented to help people be nice to everyone, whioch is what many still believe.

But the truth is there is a reason why 'Political Correctness' has the same initials as 'Political Censorship'.

Because that is what it actually is.

I view political correctness as a form of attempted 'thought control' - something right out of George Orwell's 1984.
