But I am correct in assuming that when I get slow downloads from a host say like Keep2Share is running slow but Depositfiles is flying, that's it's a problem with that particular host and not on my end?

By the way, if you have a wireless adapter in your desktop, manually disable the wireless adapter so it cannot connect at the same time as the wired connection. Both adapters connected together can have the effect of screwing up the true speed of the wired connection.

Pretty much everything in my apartment was having trouble-- downloads weren't great, the internet connected TV lagged, was painful to try to get it to get stuff from Netflix. Switched from years old combo cable modem/wireless router to a dedicated Nighthawk router, and everything performed, much, much better. A high quality wireless router is the best bang for buck improvement in system performance I've ever made . . . |

Router / speedtest
An ambiguous question is: Which router did AT&T give you?
From hitting this World-Wide Web site for its speedtest, it seems that if AT&T provided the Arris NVG378 router, it did not do you well. You {but then, how would you know? } should have queried for the Arris BGW210 or 5268ac. If you go to DSL Reports, I caution you that its forums are pretty engrossing. There are a good number of savvy surfers posting and responding.
