I'd recently worked my way thru Deadwood http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0348914/ for the second time

Great writing & acting and a real taste of how the pioneering days must've really been, Al Swearengen is a real Boss & the flourishes of the script are perfection to the ears, the dialogue really is one of the finest in any show I've watched

Big crunching gear change...

I stumbled upon 3 series worth of Ally McBeal http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118254/ in a charity shop the other week & while I dipped in & out when it was broadcast, I'd forgotten how much I like some of the characters in it, i.e. John Cage & Richard Fish. The female cast members are more than watchable & although the series does get hung-up on the mid-life meanderings of a career-womans love-life, it's well written humour wins out... so far

well I'm most way thru series 1 and I do tend to skip forward when Vonda Shepard starts cat-a-wailing.. but damn

20 years ago & it's yuppie mentality has dated badly, but an occassional dip back into light-hearted pre 9-11 America isn't the worst purchase I've made

Just finished the Lucifer season 1 box set.
Tom Ellis is great as the bored Devil who's decided to take a vacation in L.A.
After an encounter with him a mother is asked by her child, "Mommy, what's a hooker?".
Cue much discomfort from her parents.
Another highlight is the demon Mazikeen (aka Maze), played by Lesley-Ann Brandt, who is absolutely gorgeous.
Do a G**gle image search for her and be rather stimulated

I don't know if this has been mentioned but one of the best TV shows ever from here in the UK is also one of the worst box set buys. Only Fools and Horses is often ranked among the top sitcoms ever made and even among the best tv shows of any genre made. Yet because of the BBC being so tight with the money the box set is a horrible buy. The theme tune has gone, big cuts are made because of the music being played was not paid for by the BBC. Large bits of some episodes are missed because the PC brigade don't like the tone or language used. In some cases the episodes make no sense and lose continuity because of these cuts. A great show but a rubbish box set.

I think they expected everyone who enjoyed ther show to splash out and buy the boxset because of the show itself. However so many did and then the complaints started to come in. The thing is if you bought the monthly magazine when it as released you got all the uncut DVDs. If you bought the video tapes they were uncut. It was only the boxsets that were cut to shreads. Even now you have to import the boxset form the US or other places to get it in its original form. To me its another example of people making it easier to import or even download stuff than to get what you want legit.

Fuck yeah. Last year they released the 1996 Doctor Who TV movie on BluRay. Only they were too cheap to get the original 35mm masters from Universal, so they just up-converted their 576i PAL broadcast master and released that. Not gonna waste my money on that.

Still, they did put alot of effort in the the BluRay release of Jon Pertwee's first story, the only from the original series completely shot on film. That's worth the money.

They had to have hired Iwan Rheo to play Maximus because were counting on the recognition from GOT fans. As he was at that moment the recognisable go to guy for a baddie. An evil cruel merciless baddie we all could immediately hate.
Yet here what`s he doing that`s so wrong

As wants to overthrow a snobbish arrogant royal family (The opposite of how they are in the comic books) who treat anybody that hasn't a super ability less than serfs.
I`d love to meet the focus group that decided upon that storyline.
Meet them after they've been slowly incinerated.

What are it`s plus points

Attractive actresses and I really enjoyed seeing Lockjaw made almost flesh

Just not enough to wince through more than three episodes.
