Coming soon , Trumpeter's Bismarck and Tirpitz in 1/350
( new tool ) for which the artwork has been almost completed - which generally
shows that the Model will ' soon ' be due to be released for sale -
it seems to be very good - these are the test fit shots shown by Trumpeter

Note Revell’s Bismarck ( all-new tool made in 2007 ) rules the roost in this scale for quality and accuracy, as the Tamiya Kit is dated ( 1978 ) with the Lindberg being even older ( 1974 ) and even more dated .

I hope this isn't too far "off topic," but has anyone built one of the Zvezda 500783573 – 1:35 Model Russian T-90 Battle Tanks?

This looks like a really nice model, it's apparently well made and is not a bad price on Amazon.

I dabbled in making warships as a child. Even created a set of wargame rules for the Second World War and fought several scenarios with friends over involving weekends.

Sadly none of those models remain including a Bismarck in dazzle camouflage and a Hasegawa Myoko class heavy cruiser in startling dark green paint. Lots of sharp knives, glues and small aerosol paints. It was fun and involving at the time. Nowadays I buy models.

Anyone remember the Monogram B-17G model (this was in the late 70s)? Can't recall the scale but it was big and the kit came with a color foldout included in the kit showing a diorama. The scene of the diorama was a B-17G that made a successful belly landing on a field with the flight crew doing a walk-around. The name of the B-17 was "In the Pink" and not only did it have a custom painted pin-up on the nose but each flight crew had a leather jacket with that pin-up painted on the back of the jacket. Man, I loved that diorama when I was a kid.

When very young I found a model ship kit stashed away in the attic, apparently it was meant for my brothers Christmas present, there was glue in the box and bringing it to my bedroom began assembling it "Toddler styley" , I can remember it was a battleship and what I put together did not resemble a battleship.
Not content with with leaving it in its bare grey plastic I went hunting for something to "paint" it with , found my mothers make up bag and proceeded to camouflage it in "max factor" with red lipstick being the dominant finish.... Also later finding it was also glued to the blankets of the bed
I never found out what battleship it was , but Bismarck is probably the main contender , I wonder what the rivet counters would make of my creation these days....

Back in 1979 I found a bunch of unbuilt Tamiya "Waterline Series" 1/700 or 1/350 scale warship models my father had stashed in a closet. The Haruna, Hiei, Maya?, Nagato, and Suzuka were some of the ships I can recall. It was like finding a vein of gold. My father must've gotten a few years earlier and completely forgotten about them.

From a series of Monogram diorama sheets by the late great Shep Paine. The books of his work are amazing!
