Didn't Brummie (Birmingham comedian) Jasper Carrott tell a story once about a friend of his at a football match, probably Birmingham City's rivals Aston Villa who yells to him "HEY! CARROTT...they've got no cowing Bovril!"

IIRC it was "piggin'" Bovril, but you are indeed correct, 'twas the mighty Sir Jasper of Carrott.

(Ever tried making a Marmite drink? Eeee-yuck. And I like it on toast)

Was it? I was sure it was cowing? Not me personally but my father loves making a drink out of it and a soup too, although I don't think he's ever put it on toast. The closest I've ever come to it is through Twiglets.

Think he works far better on the radio though.
Mind you we all heard him long before he was ever finally given a series (Why such a wait ) so that`s to be expected I suppose.
You speak for yourself, I'd never heard of him until the TV show. The episode where Michael goes to hospital and discovers to his terror that Arthur has somehow been mistaken for a doctor was hysterical.

And your wife lets you kiss her? The most you ever need is a small smear on toast with cheese
