Theresa May - UK PM - doesn't do 'Sport'

She was told that her LEGS were a selling point for PR.... hence a lot of "Leg Shots" .... short dresses etc before the Brexit talks started.

Trump's belly and treble chins do not support ANY Sport.

Not even a 'posed' pic like from from Dwight to Obama via JFK and both Bushes....could portray him as "FIT"

Like Mussolini, his WH pics are from below waist-level, hands raised ....'lifts breasts'.... Standard Propoganda Class 101

In my putting post together I am reminded that Barbara Lee was the only member of Congress to speak out and vote against giving away the war making power to the president. Ms Lee and I agree on some issues and vary on others.

I don't mind the resurgence of the left at all, but am just letting the right leaning VEF members know that Congresswoman Lee and Kamala Harris will become much more prominent going forward and y'all will soon be looking at Nancy Pelosi as the progressive moderate she is.

Is this a good time to mention that I have a very hard time understanding how red state voters can continually elect people that screw them over financially? Then we have the campaign propaganda, lies, misogynistic, and racist rhetoric parroted out to us. I knew when Reagan was elected that a generation would grow up listening to economic, political, and social nonsense presented as truth. I understand how pernicious ideology instilled in childhood can be. Exploring my spiritual life and seeking to improve my contact with the Divine Presence are major concerns. But I constantly butt my head against the conceptual framework instilled by years of reciting the Baltimore Catechism.

It is hard to keep my tongue while the dupes continue to prattle as their lives and communities collapse around them. In the last couple of years I have reluctantly begun to accept that these people really are that stupid.

Really, folks do you think it is any accident that crack cocaine and opioids flooded our society as our schools were trashed and your jobs automated out of existence? Do you really believe the addicts caused it all? Who got richer while all this happened?

Y'all are making me think that Midwestern white folk are nothing but a bunch of lazy, beer swilling hillbillies and trailer trash.

I don't think that's possible.

What made Trump possible was the exhaustion of that kind of Republican. It parallels the exhaustion of the mainline Protestant churches . . . there's no more WASP establishment that sees itself as the winners in the status quo, rather there's an aging and pissed off group of Assemblies of God/Baptists etc that see themselves as the losers, not the winners.

For our Brit friends, this tension within Protestantism would be familiar; the C of E establishment vs various malcontents (many of whom they encouraged to take their crankiness to the New World).

Yes but was is not familiar is that anyone still really believes any variety of Christian crankiness in the modern world. And you still have to pretend to believe this crankiness to get elected for either party.

Even Ireland, previously the most religious country in Europe has now progressed and given up all this nonsense.

You can be the least credible Christian on the planet - Trump but if you pretend to go along with it the Christians will still vote for you.

That is a great line.

Its been an interesting time for God in the US. The Rs used to go on about God, Jesus and morality ("the Moral Majority"), you'd have thought that Trump would have put a hole in that balloon, but no.

Together with nuts in Israel, they've decided that Trump is the Second Coming -- not of Jesus, but of Cyrus the Great. OK, he was Persian, but these folks aren't bright enough to recognize that "Persian" = "Iran". And the "biblical" idea is that, despite being a tyrant, he did God's work.

Its a nice bit of double talking you'll have to agree

Quote:
It’s a typical morning segment on Pat Robertson’s Christian Broadcasting Network, late in 2016. The controversial Access Hollywood tapes, on which then-candidate Donald Trump can be heard boasting about grabbing women by the genitals, have just been released.

Standing on a sunny street, reporter Chris Mitchell says, “Christians are divided about what to do on Donald Trump.”

Some want to abandon him, he says. Others want to stand with him. But others, he says, are wondering: Does Trump have a “biblical mandate” to become president?

Mitchell runs swiftly through the first two options, citing both a condemnation of Trump and an endorsement by Focus on the Family’s James Dobson. But it’s the third option — that God himself has chosen Trump to be president — that Mitchell focuses on.

Evangelical thinker Lance Wallnau then gives Mitchell his take: Trump is a “modern-day Cyrus,” an ancient Persian king chosen by God to “navigate in chaos.”

Mitchell notes that some evangelicals disagree but does not name or cite them. Instead, he cites the growing threat of China, Russia, and Iran, before Wallnau concludes, “America’s going to have a challenge either way. With Trump, I believe we have a Cyrus to navigate through the storm.”

The comparison comes up frequently in the evangelical world. Many evangelical speakers and media outlets compare Trump to Cyrus, a historical Persian king who, in the sixth century BCE, conquered Babylon and ended the Babylonian captivity, a period during which Israelites had been forcibly resettled in exile. This allowed Jews to return to the area now known as Israel and build a temple in Jerusalem. Cyrus is referenced most prominently in the Old Testament book of Isaiah, in which he appears as a figure of deliverance.

That comparison has become more and more explicit in the wake of Trump’s presidency. Last week, an Israeli organization, the Mikdash Educational Center, minted a commemorative “Temple Coin” depicting Trump and Cyrus side by side, in honor of Trump’s decision to move the American embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. It was among the most brazen, public links between Trump and Cyrus; one that takes the years of subtext running through outlets like Christian Broadcasting Network and, quite literally, sealed the comparison.

Monday, however, an even higher-profile figure linked Trump and Cyrus. During his visit to Washington, DC, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu heavily implied Trump was Cyrus’s spiritual heir. Thanking Trump for moving the American embassy to Jerusalem, Netanyahu said, “We remember the proclamation of the great King Cyrus the Great — Persian King. Twenty-five hundred years ago, he proclaimed that the Jewish exiles in Babylon can come back and rebuild our temple in Jerusalem...And we remember how a few weeks ago, President Donald J. Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. Mr. President, this will be remembered by our people throughout the ages.”
We surely live in end times. . . .

OK, I was ranting. It did occur to me later that the Democrats are as much to blame as the Republicans. The clueless, tone deaf, out-of-touch, or completely uninspiring choices they have provided as "leadership" explains much of the problem. Sometimes you just have to have the balls to stand for something or make tough choices.

Really, the Obama presidency should have featured more of us marching in the streets. He did the best he could, and did get a little help for some folks medically. But Wall Street bankrolled him, so we never got the bankers thrown in jail. The Republicans are now gutting the few protections Elizabeth Warren shamed the party into providing American consumers being raped by the credit card companies.

Obama was always a moderate. There was no way he was going to back off on the military adventurism. So he he played right into the hands of the military-industrial complex and the police state that began to grow with 9/11. In fact. he actively helped grow it. The Obama administration started prosecuting journalists to track down whistle blowers and intimidate future dissenters. Rather than seriously address rationalizing our immigration policy, Obama ramped up deportations and harassment of the Hispanic neighborhoods.

What I am seeing from the Democrats and Republicans has me feeling suicidal. But then I thought, "Why should I kill myself because of these scum suckers. Why not hang around and be the most obnoxious asshole senior citizen I can be. Fuck 'em"

So, no more Mr. Nice Guy.

Patriot Prayer was doing it's impression of Duck Dynasty meets Nordlinger from Animal Hiuse, blaring godawful country/rock music (Nickelback are Canadians, morons) and some doing the Proud Boys preppy asshole thing.

But not to fear, antifa were on the March, too cool for.the Revolution in their battle kilts. Yeah dudes in black kilts and ski masks, and their fat girlfriends.

Fuck me. I'm watching this trying to decide which of these people I hate more, and was pleasantly surprised when the cops blasted them all with pepper and crowd control munitions
