Vampirella #2
Vampirella, as you might know, started out as a funny character. Very cartoonish. Also, there weren't Vampirella stories in the earliest issues. It was written almost as if she was hosting a TV show featuring a series of short stories. I had this one in near mint condition. Sadly, all of my comic books and magazines were destroyed in a flood in about 1990 and I haven't bought one since. Save

When I was a kid and received this in the mail (I was the first on my block to own it), I just about had a nerdgasm, this being a meeting of two of my three favorite superheroes. Ditto for this one... Captain Marvel being my third favorite superhero at that age. And, I confess, I still have a nostalgic fondness for him. If you haven't seen The Return of Black Adam, you must—even if you aren't particularly a fan of CM. It gets high ratings from people who aren't even comic book fans. This is a recent update of the cover above... Apparently, a few years ago, DC released a book-sized collection of every meeting of Supes and CM. I don't have it, but I have, at one time or another, owned every meeting they had prior to about 1990. Yes, all of them, including Superman #276, in which Superman fights "Captain Thunder." DC had leased the property from Fawcett and wanted to test the waters to see if the character was viable (after 20 years of being out of print) and this was their way of finding out. Captain Thunder was the original name of Captain Marvel when the character was first developed. SaveSave
