v45c,
Agree with that!
Periodically, I still need a scanner for documents that are usually real old, can't find elsewhere and need to forward on to someone.

And about the only time I print anymore is when my dad needs some documents put together for a club he belongs to. Thats once a year. I wouldn't have to print those if all his members were computer literate but several have never even touched a computer.

So I'll need access to a printer for a while. At least until dad quits his club.
ok, i can see that use and it makes sense...
but i see dirt poor people saving every silly thing that catches their fancy and fwding it to others via phone fax etc... that makes no sense...

Having bought a really nice almost unused Toyota, from a big dealer everything was wonderful, until about 6 months later when the electric window button on the drivers side broke. A little inverted L shaped hollow plastic button, that when used with the thumb, as it was probably intended, had a tendency to twist and snap off after a while.
Of course, it is a sealed unit, so instead of a little 20p plastic button, it is an £85+ VAT whole switch unit! Oh, well, it's covered by 'Warranty'......

Yes, they will have the unit on Friday afternoon, bring the car in then and we can have it back on Monday.......cost £95+VAT.

Er hang on a moment, thats covered by 'warranty',..............

'No, only the parts are covered, labour is not included, and that's £95+VAT'!

A quick check revealed that they were correct in this.

'Ok. I'll collect the part on Friday afternoon then and fit it myself.........'

'Oh no, you cannot do that we have to fit it.......!'

'And where does it say that??????'
(I could of course see the logic of why they should fit it, warranty etc, but not that they had to fit it).

Anyway, it didn't say that.

So I duly got the part from them, free, but with bad grace, and fitted it myself on Saturday morning. Three hours, and most of that was trying to get the fcuking door panel off! Those pesky plastic plugs that they use instead of screws were a nightmare!

£95 +VAT for something that would have taken them less than an hour to fit, and which ought to have been covered by warranty anyway, and which they didn't have to fit at all!

Bo****ks to that!

Fortunately it was only a little switch, not a gearbox!

As always, caveat emptor!
