Default Science-fiction and space art

I was thinking about posting this thread in the "Funnies" section (actually, I'm not sure what the mods think about where it should be located) but since this is some serious art and we already got threads like "Post your desktop" here, this should be the appropriate place. And I said, yes, this should be the appropriate place.
I've been a science-fiction fanatic since my childhood (I'm still not out of that phase and decline to "grow up"), interested in everything from literature, movies, comics, cartoons to paintings and illustrations. I really appreciate good book illustrations. Here are a few wonderful paintings from this genre:

Pic 1: by Bob Layzell who used to draw many illustrations for the Perry Rhodan novels.

Pic 2: "Okie City, Trading Contact" by John Harris.

Pic 3: "Big Boy Loco" by Jim Burns.

Pic 4: "Trantorian Dream" by Michael Wheldan.

Pic 5: "Day Million" by Frederik Pohl.

Pic 6: by Tony Roberts.

Pic 7: The Other Side of Time" by Jerome Podwil.

Unhappy

Great idea for a thread, Norbert!

Been collecting a few lately:

John Schoenherr' illustrations for a serialization of the novel 'Dune" March 1965.
Hmmmm.... I wonder where David Lynch got the idea for what the sandworms looked like?

Schoenherr again, Cover illustration, May 1964, featuring James H. Schmitz' "Undercurrents", about a teenage girl telepath

Schoenherr, Nov. 1964, cover illustrating H. Beam Piper's "Gunpowder God", a Paratime (parallel world) story.

Of course there are also pulp covers & posters galore, often better than the actual story, if this doesn't move too far into 'funnies' territory for you?

Nice thread idea Norbert.
I've included the following pics but I don't know if you'd consider them relevant to your thread

Not only are they kinda of retro sci-fi representations but there's some nudity too

Thanks for the pics kelio and ubu!

Here's a couple more by French artist Enki Bilal (a Yugoslav by birth) who became famous for his work in the Metal Hurlant (Heavy Metal) magazine.

And some book illustrations:

And just a pic of Enki Bilal:

thanks , I love sci fi art. Really like the work of Rodger Dean, I think he did a lot of the Yes and Asia covers.

Here's a great Frank Frazetta illustration featuring my kind of Viper pilots!

Wink Naoto Hattori

A Japanese artist who now lives in NYC, I believe. He has a website & a google image search will turn up literally hundreds of his images. Most of his paintings are quite small, which helps explain the numbers & the detail. If you know much art history you'll see some images that are based on Renaissance & Flemish work. Some recall Basil Wolverton & Big Daddy Roth, & more recent painters like Mark Ryden & Todd Schorr. He does, or did, sell them online, as well as prints.

Wasn't sure were to put this as there is no thread for "Good Girl Art". Comic book art, Pin-up art, Red Heads?! Thought here would probably be best

Shae Vizla from the New Star Wars old rebublic game....
