I leave it to the moderators and respect their decision as to whether this stays, but if even a few of you sign this it would be a big help:

Sergeant Matthew Telford of the Grenadier Guards was promoted to that rank In June 2009. In November of that same year, Sergeant Telford was one of 5 British Soldiers killed when a rogue Afghan policeman opened fire on them.

His wife and family will only receive a Corporal's pension since he only held his rank of Sergeant for less than a year. However, he was killed on operations by the enemy whilst wearing three stripes of a Sergeant on active service.

Please sign the petition below to support a change in the rules that deny a hero's' widow the pension she deserves.

My Son is not that long out of the Army. Done 2 tours of Iraq, done Sierra Leone and Afganistan.

Could have been him. Ive signed it.

Because the powers that always are have shown themselves not to have any empathy whatsoever for the ill equipped poorly supplied and under manned troopers they send out to do their other masters biddings

Or any fucking long term strategic sense for that matter either

I'm afraid that's typical of this and previous governments..
Their attitude towards the armed forces is deplorable, Remember the s**t the gurkhas had to endure, before they were given the rights to decent medical care and a good standard of living...

Whether or not the Govt. will change it's mind on this subject is unknown at the moment. I hope that they will.

However as long as we keep supporting our lads with petitions like this & by going to the press as well. We just, may make them change their mind.

I would like to request that all VEF members sign this petition asap.
