Only just found this excellent thread in the hinterland of the bleak back pages

One of my major malfunctions i`m never satisfied with anything i`ve done professionally . Be it an assignment or whatever etc etc etc . Always tend to feel unsatisfied and believe i should have somehow done better , so i`m annoyingly unable to take any lasting enjoyment from my own achievements and get very critical of myself

That malfunction led to me leaving my first career even though by anyones standard i was doing extremely well in it .

Telling ya sometimes i do my own head in .

Chronic laziness - I can't even be bothered giving an example of it.

You kept that well hidden

Although in your case i`d say it was more a compulsion than a malfunction

OK, you know you have a problem when Brother Greenskull offers up comfort.

I thought I was unique in feeling that nothing I did was ever good enough. The greatest example would be that I used to do a lot of creative writing when I was a kid. Everybody would be like, "I really like this. It's good." Of course I would tear up all the paper & throw it in the trash. I would obsess over small things like character dialogue, foreshadowing & symbolism. Same thing with music. I studied music theory in school & used to play base. I could even read sheet music once upon a time. I just couldn't be as good as I wanted to be, so I just gave it up entirely.

Oh yeah, & women tell me that my major malfunction is that I never take serious problems very seriously. I just don't see how getting stressed out helps to solve anything. Some people would say it's a virtue to remain calm under fire. Needless to say, I'm immune to the senseless melodrama that permeates a woman's existence.

A tendency toward perfectionism eventually leading to self-disappointment and sometimes a sense of futility... until a new goal arises, etc.

I tend to procrastinate a lot. I'll give an example once I've finished playing Freecell

Love being idle and do nothing else other than mess about in the Internet all day. The ex was pretty active so she took off eventually - good.
