This morning at approximately 5:00 I went to empty my garbage into the outside garbage dumpsters at the complex where I live. The sun was just coming up and my faithful dog was at my side ready for his morning walk. I opened the lid of the dumpster only to find a raccoon munching on someones pizza crusts. He rolled over and hissed at me and just about scared my AM BM out of me right then and there. I must have jumped five feet in the air....okay more like 3 inches but I was scared I tell ya! Leo must have either been scared barkless or was in on the surprise because he basically didn't do anything. No warning bark, no pronounced sniffing.....just silence.
I know, I know......I am a big softie. Scaredy cat you might say. So before Estreeter and all you Aussies tell me your stories about wrestling crocs and boxing kangaroos. Before palo5 tells me about his juggling polar bears, before blondifan tells me of him bedeviling a Tasmanian Devil or whatever other creatures you forumites have to battle. Just remember one thing. Until you have faced down a food engorged slowly moving raccoon, you haven't faced real danger.

Their infection rate for roundworm runs into the 95% range because the mothers are almost always infected and pass it on. They also infect their own nests. NEVER touch raccoon feces and if you use a gardening tool disinfect the tool immediately. The roundworm eggs found in the feces are persistent meaning they will live on long after the feces has rotted away. If your dog has a violent encounter with a 'coon take the dog to the VET ASAP. No animal is diagnosed with rabies more than the raccoon. |

Some people's souls are to late to save, like mine...is that why they say 'Save our souls?'
I recently read in one of those lad mags (either Nuts or Zoo) where they did a 'Who's Who Of Porn Infamy', with those who had a strong career in hardcore porn have either landed up in prison for committing serious crimes that go as far as getting the death penalty or they have supposedly seen the error of their ways & have overnight become born again Christians. These are of course porn stars who started in the business after the mid nineties & made the most of their careers before befallen by their untimely fate.
Now it really makes me wonder that with the hard core porn business being such a billion dollar plus business around the world, with ongoing OHS sex related monitoring and that good looking, well-built, acting challenged and extremely oversexed people would make the most of their very limited, but equally impressive talents wouldn't need to end up with either extremes. True, there is an aspect of performance anxiety, pressure and long term goal orientation that could easily worry the porn star, but once in this business, surely with the appreciation of entrepreneur acumen, you can easily become a millionaire plus with the movies you make, along with all the residuals that go towards said fame and fortune. I mean, look what it's done in making such success stories for Jill Kelly, Jenna Jameson, Rocco Siffredi, Ron Jeremy...well, okay, not Ron Jeremy. And I only say that more so because of his looks rather than anything else he's achieved. I seriously fail to see why then that these people must become criminals or -worst of all -must sell themselves to Jesus to live a supposedly normal life, which means they must disown and despise everything that made them famous as a porn star. And yes, I am especially having a go at those who give themselves over to God in quite possibly trading one addiction for another, where I personally believe there is less sin in a pornagraphic lifestyle simply because these people with naturally highly driven lifestyles are just owning up to their sexuality, providing it doesn't hurt them or anyone else and remains perfectly legal. Having had my bitch, I do hope it will make us all think a bit more deeply the next time we entertain ourselves, while our pants are around our ankles...

Doesn't do a thing for me but apparently some people found her sexy.
As to Palo's comment quite right tovarich. Sadly the intelligence indicators were all there but the Foreign Office chose to ignore them. Lord Carrington, the then Foreign Secretary, resigned over the matter. The Foreign Office is a strange beast in that it is full of people who quite like foreigners. The British do not as a whole like foreigners, they prefer to find them funny, odd or strange. One can say many bad things about the Foreign Office but one can never accuse them of patriotism. Oh by the way would you have stood up and demanded that Stalin be deposed. After all he ignored all the int about the Germans. |

Now, now, let's hold hands and be friends...
Harold, with regards to what you said about me standing up and demanding that Stalin be deposed, especially after he ignored all the intelligence about the Germans...well, there's a very good chance I would have sided with Trotsky, taken off for Brazil or Argentina with him (in the same vein as Ronald Biggs, naturally) and more than likely would have been killed in getting an ice pick to my head. That being said, it just shows you what happens abroad in trying to escape the long arm of the communist ideals and you still get a free lobotomy for your troubles.
There's a lot to be said for upholding your ideals; just look what it did for the Rosenbergs and Christine Keeler...

What is Madonna doing now? Flashing her be-knickered rump at another of her concerts and she has yet to come her - just one thing to say "Put it away Madge!"
Kirschner(Argentina's sinking-in-the-sand premier) getting talks on the sovereignty of Falklands is about as likely as it snowing on the Moon - give it a rest love, half your country couldn't care less and the others might care a bit but would prefer you to stop smokescreening them and sort your own domestic problems out first.

I'm feeling a bit sensible right now...no, really I am!
Just thought I'd put my two cents in anyway, harold.
And just to change subject matter briefly -and to suffer a few moments of respect and awe, with the utmost sincerity -I just found out that sadly, Ray Bradbury passed away last week at the age of 91 & just two months short of being 92. A brilliant man who wrote 27 novels & over 600 short stories. And yes, I also sang the body electric...sometimes even without the help of a mains cable to my nether regions...
