I canīt confirm the Virus-/Malware-Alerts @ PixHost, but I notice some dodgy behaviour for some days while uploading. The speeds are far away from what was usual in the past, and especially larger pic-files exceeding 2MBīs are sometimes rejected which has never been the case earlier.

Tghe last few days I'm having lag/speed issues with Pixhost uploading as well (no virus alerts though)

Most likely they are either experiencing a high volume of uploading or there are server issues

Either way the answer is still the same

Use another host thats currently stable and check back next week

After the pixhost recent outage that went for weeks it
makes sense not to over use anyone host especially if your posting large amounts/sizes

Alternate hosts - 9 dissected and there are others beyond that

I just uploaded a small 4 pic post with no issues

I need to have a pic-hoster that keeps filenames and accepts files of large size too. That shrinks the alternatives, unfortunately.

This wouldnīt cause me problems for the numerous pichost-alternatives...including PixHost either

Check my recent posts in the Micki Lynn - Thread. When it comes to ~200 pics in a row of ~3-4 MBīs, then itīs a different story. Only ImageVenue coped with that amount

3 megs sounds like untreated 300dpi scans. I prefer to scan at 600 dpi and then reduce file size in a picture editor (I use PaintShopPro) to something like 800KB. I actually reduce to 30% size (in most cases), but as this is in two dimensions it reduces file size to something like 9% of the original. One can perhaps take out the middle man and use the Scanner's "save-at-lower-quality" feature instead - depends on how good that software is. Anyway, I do that because I get IMHO pretty good quality at a reduced file size, e.g. it avoids issues with Moiré patterns.

Apologies for being a little bit off-topic.

Certainly an appropriate procedure when it comes to own scan-work

However, the cases which I was talking about are original pics from studios. Thorough collectors of this kinda stuff require "non"-cropped material and react highly allergic when getting offered "edited" material

Unfortunately when it comes to actual releases pic-sizes (and filesizes by result), they have tremendously gone up over the course of time. Picture-Sets nowadays do very often exceed 200 MBīs or more

A little "off-topicness" from my side

I get the warning from f-secure since yesterday. But it wouldn't be the first time, that f-secure blocks sites, which other antivirus scanner don't.
They are probably a bit paranoid.

Default Image Uploading Disabled?

Hey guys

I was just about to post some pictures on this forum, when I noticed that I cannot use the image uploader anymore. It just says Uploading disabled. This was working fine up until yesterday. Any ideas what it could be?

No idea. But utilising an external image host like Imagevenue will work fine.
