Noticed so far this week:
The wind is getting up again and it is mild now but getting colder with perhaps snow by Sunday.

A phonecall at three times this week purporting to come from revenue office HMRC(Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs) which says that we owe them money and a lawsuit will be issued. This is apparently a major scam and targetting the elderly - my parents have had this twice so far. It consists of a telephone number to call after the 'threat' but on no account should you call it.

Jerusalem Trump: US recognition 'kiss of death' for peace process
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-42250399

"Mr Trump will also start the process of moving the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
The decision - which would fulfil a campaign promise and appeal to Mr Trump's right-wing base - risks a heated reaction from US allies in the Muslim world and brings a risk of protests and unrest."

Give Donny his due when he says he will do something he tends to do it regardless of either intellect or emotions
This is probably the biggest disaster to Middle East peace since the Sykes Picot agreement of 1914, which divided the region after the expected fall of the Ottoman Empire. Jerusalem is a Holy City in both Judaism and Islam, and the fragile peace which has existed, has done so on a knife edge since the declaration of Israel. This will push it over the edge.

To give a comparison, it is like a group of people going into a Southern Baptist Church in pink clothes and declaring Jesus was gay! But some how doing it in every church across the region!

I can foresee the new US embassy being attacked, the New Israeli Parliament the same and open unrest across the region, many US allies will find it impossible to retain their position, in truth for the US this is a disaster, Russian leaders must be rubbing their hands with glee!

The two have to go hand in hand.
You have to read Marc Aurèle and the Stoïcists. He was considered to be one of the best Roman Emperor. According to him (and all the stoïcists), mainly our problems (sadness, envy, anger, etc...) are due to emotions and passion.

I personally observed that all my problems are due to my emotions.

"This is the fastest moving social change we've seen in decades," editor-in-chief Edward Felsenthal said.

I hope that the Time will publish covers about crimes perpetraded by Capitalism and crimes perpetraded against animal welfare, asap.
It's time to denounce all abuses.

I also hope that women will fight not only improve their conditions, but the conditions of all the poors and the sensible creatures.

Apparently (according to CNN) the runner-up for TIME’s 2017 Person of the Year was President Donald Trump, who was Time’s Person of the Year in 2016.

As for your comments towards women, it appears there may be a backlash over the recent revelations:

Why women fear a backlash over #MeToo

That whispering you hear from American women right now? It's not elation, it's anxiety; the fear of a backlash.

Just two months since the Harvey Weinstein accusations emerged, women here are already concerned that this revolution will indeed eat its own.

This is a surprisingly controversial topic, because even raising a potential backlash against the #MeToo movement smacks of appeasement, of wanting to let predators off the hook.

The biggest backlash risk is a fake accusation that will undermine genuine accusers. Whether for personal, vindictive reasons or for political, strategic reasons, a woman will falsely accuse a high profile man of sexual misconduct, the story will get attention and then when it's proven to be fake, the backlash will begin. The response will quickly be: "You see, all these stories aren't true. Women are making it up."

The next fear is that men will get so nervous that they're going to be accused of harassment that they will simply stop hiring, meeting or socialising with female colleagues. There are reports this is already happening. We will get shut out of the room where important decisions are made because men fear our presence? How ironic would that be?

It's known here as the Pence rule after Vice-President Mike Pence, who said he doesn't ever meet alone or have dinner alone with female colleagues in order to avoid any perception of impropriety. That can hinder female professionals by excluding us from work occasions that men can and do take advantage of.

In 1938, no lesser person than Adolf Hitler was Time's "Man of the Year!"

Sounds a little bleak there GM, similar here

Things I noticed this week......

My blood pressure is somewhat under control, 3 weeks ago it was found at 160 / 100 checked yesterday and today was almost normal at 130/90 and hour ago.

What else ... Umm

Being house bound I noticed how easily I become bored when I can't go outside for fun activities I got out of hospital last Wednesday morning so far all I've done is be here, play computer games, TV and read magazines .... over and over .... I did anger my Missus yesterday, that was fun

Umm,
I noticed a lack of fun food, pizza gone, burgers gone, meat pies gone, midnight VEF time snack gone cigarettes cut down dramatically, Beer gone

Umm, last 3 weeks we discovered my blood pressure problem when I complained about lower chest and stomach problems, found I had an ulcer but when the pain would subside with treatment the Docs dug deeper and found I needed my gall bladder removed ( huge stone ) that's why I'm housebound after the surgery.

Doc gave me all if December off work ..... Man was my manager pissed off But having about 500 hours of saved up sick leave what could he do

So what did I actually notice this week nothing exciting

If it's any consolation I'm back on the fags - started again when I was in France a couple of weeks ago.

I was a bit stressed driving on the wrong side of the road and reckoned a smoke was just the thing to relax me.

So I invested in 400 Gitanes and returned to my evil ways. Smoked the lot in a week . It's like reuniting with an old friend.

I knew it, I just knew it would happen

I've cut back from anywhere between 25 to 50 a day down to 10
I can handle that but I did notice one thing this week, today specifically.

I lit one up after breakfast, was great but Missus went nuts about me having it and my recent issues ..... oddly when she went nuts I noticed the fag in her gob women

So did I - still I saved a fortune during the 7 months and 1 week of faglessness!

About 1800 quid which is 3200 dollars in your Oz money.

But what's the good of all that money if you are miserable

Please try to give up our friends Estreeter and otokonomidori - if you possibly can.

I can only relate the tale of my uncle who was a fit, active man...until...

He spent the last seven years of his life bed bound with an oxygen mask. At that point he was truly miserable and wished he had never smoked.

Smokers often use the old adage about "you could be run over by a bus tomorrow". Well that's true - but it's unlikely you will be run over by the same bus every day for seven years unless you are very careless
