That episode entitled "Arena" was based on a short science fiction story of the same name by great science fiction writer Fredric Brown written in 1944 for the sci-fi magazine: Astounding stories. The story itself was quite a bit different than the Star Trek episode, but it did have a human fighting a non-human alien.

Yes
And another annoying thing also Those "Handy Packs" of whatever, You can bet your ass the thing you need won't be in there and never included. Usually crap like nuts, screws and washers, or some other hardware items, Or better yet, they were in there and that's the only compartment that's empty

http://blog.oxforddictionaries.com/2...-welsh-rabbit/ Rabbit was the food of the poor in England. The Welsh were even poorer so their standard treat was cheese on toast. So it was a bit of a black joke. But if you think about it, "rarebit" makes no sense anyway. The dish is toasted so is not "rare" at all. If it were rare, it would just be slightly warm cheese on plain bread. |

https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/.../welsh-rarebit PS God IS on the side of the pedants....and I suspect recipe books came before dictionaries-and certainly before blogs... PPS And as far as google is concerned 'welsh rarebit' vastly outnumbers 'welsh rabbit' Last edited by Dr Pepper; March 9th, 2017 at 12:21 AM.. |

BTW When I was a child (60s) everyone referred to rabbit, not rarebit. As I say, either is fine with me - just don't tell me I am wrong. But if you insist Dr Pepper sir, I say "choose your second" and we will fight it out on Hampstead Heath at dawn. Are you free on Sunday? |

The Metric system.
I've always had difficulty trying to get my brain around the difference between Metric and Imperial and converting the two. For example, today I went into the hardware store to by a piece of wood to repair something. I looked at the label to see the size and it said 2.1 Metres. And the first thing that went through my mind was "2.1 Metres? What's that in INCHES!" |

Communist Conspiracy
I grew up using metric in the school system, had no problem with it. Started my apprenticeship aged 17 and had to learn imperial, at forst I hated it but now prefer it over metric BTW, 2.1 metres is 82.6 inches

Yeah just like the asshole who changed nuts and bolts to metric! Now everyone had to go out and buy a set of metric wrenches and sockets ... he must have been in cahoots with a tool manufacturer and getting a kickback!
