 A wonderful concerto for the violin and one I think deserves more of a standing in the repertory. A sweeping majestic opening movement gives way to a febrile andante and a dynamic finale full of rousing dance motifs. I do think that Eastern European composers and indeed those from the so called lesser nations of classical music like Denmark do get neglected. From disparaging even the likes of Shostakovich. Martinu deserves a reappraisal in particular his symphonies and chamber works. For those that may not yet be aware, Walter Becker of Steely Dan fame passed away early this morning at the age of 67.  R.I.P. Walter From the Gaucho album Hey Nineteen
