Wasn’t Benny the Godfather to Sue Upton son,
Yes and the daughter too. And how did he repay their kindness to "Uncle Benny"? by leaving them sod all in his will.!!
Cherry Gilham(former page 3 model and dancer) rather seemed to delight in exposing one of Benny's secrets in a Channel Four documentary once-apparently she would 'pleasure him'
as presumably he didn't get the chance for real sex. What a rather sordid tale to tell of a man loved by the world(quite literally)

VERY interesting about the Dr. Who episode. I have all of the Tom Baker, ( The BEST Doctor) ,Dr. Who episodes on VHS tape having recorded them off the local PBS station when they aired
in the mid 1980's.

Oh yes, back to the girls, Yes,yes, the tall one with the goofy glasses. Just something interesting about her. Not ravishing nor especially sexy, but something interesting. Could have
been a mannerism, etc. , too long ago.

I DO thank you ever so much for finding that information, Sir. Very considerate of you. I have bookmarked it & will go through it sometime.

Much Appreciated.

Al
That's Maggie Stredder, lead singer with the Ladybirds trio who backed Benny on most of his shows; I liked her as well, there was something about those glasses and she had a lovely smile. In fact she sang a duet with Benny on the single 'Those Days' in the mid-sixties.

I seem to remember a documentary on BBC2 about some legal battle between Bob Guccione and someone else (apologies for lack of detail). This was probably early 90's. Main point of interest is that I'm sure it had a screen test of a naked girl being spanked by someone. She was laying across his lap. I'm almost certain it was Louise English! Can't find a reference to the doco anywhere though.

That's available on the third DVD volume of Benny Hill from A&E, btw. I own a copy...one of the first stripteases I saw as a kid and made me a fan of Claire Lutter, the Asian dancer.

Funny how in england if you say you love Benny Hill your looked upon as an old sexist dinosaur ,they never show his stuff on tv anymore ,the last time i saw him was in "Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines" yet in europe it seems every country have show's based on his type of humour ,women in short skirts on surf boards (like those mech bulls) trying to stay on , women running over assault coarses with strapless bathing suites ,girl's having their skirt's ripped off , check out SEXY CAM on paramount 2 in europe all members of the family love it ,in the UK they would be protesting in the street's.

Great posts keep them coming.
P.s when i was younger i thought there was more nudity than that but i guess i was wrong.

You may have a point, but as I remember, Benny was ousted by the BBC because he was considering working for ITV ("how dare he !"). Then ITV went through a political correctness phase and, without warning, just dropped him (he never forgave them, or the BBC for that matter). Ironically this happened about the same time as Channel 5 was getting a name for being more risque.

It has been noted that for many years, his talents (and repeats) have been more appreciated overseas, than in his home country.

RIP Benny, it'll be a long time before you are forgotten.

LETS not forget too, that Louise English , a great dancer herself
got together some great dancers eg Corrine Russel etc, and
they made some great dance videos which are classics in themselves.
We ve got to thank Benny for giving the girls a chance to do
that.
Benny was a great writer, he wrote lyrics for comedy songs
and he spent his life dreaming up comedy sketches and routines.
His success and fame in America and round the world was
much deserved in his later life.
Getting the push from Thames TV though seemed to hurt him
and was a body blow. We have the politically correct alternative comedians
...... like Ben Elton to thank for the hatchet job on Benny
But who's going to be watching video s of Ben Elton in 20 years time ?
( count them on one hand )

Sorry to answer this after so long, but your memory is correct. Bob Guccione and Ken Russell had a legal row over a proposed Penthouse production of 'Moll Flanders'. They showed a couple of short sections from screen tests and one of them was, I thought, Louise English. And yes, she was naked!

It seems to be this programme, but there isn't a lot of information to go on. http://ftvdb.bfi.org.uk/sift/title/426461?view=cast

He spawned a bunch of imitators in Latin America as well.

Back around 1980, when his show hit the late-night local line-up (11:00pm), it was an instant sensation amongst teen-aged boys. I don't know about the other kids, but that was the first I'd ever seen of a woman in a garter belt, outside of magazines.

I didn't really get the humour part of it until years later; but at the time, Hill's Angels were an instant draw. It might be fair to say that, of USA-made television there has never been anything quite like it, either before or since. Sure, a lot of USA-made offerings have shown gratuitous amounts of skin, but not with the quirky/brilliant humour, combined with the garter belts.

It was like an old-style burlesque-vaudeville act.

Default louise english

in, i think 1993/94 louise english was set to appear in a production called "robert maxwell- the musical" in a theatre i was working at in london.. it was pulled due to court action involving the maxwell sons - but i had the fortune to meet louise english and see her here and there (not intimately unfortunately ha ha) around the place, who was utterly, drop dead gorgeous....the tv doesnt do her justice...it was hard to look away from her she was so stunning......i could only dream of what she would look like naked - gorgeous no doubt.
