Just heard a "fourth" division club has written to FIFA, UEFA and David Cameron arguing that clubs should be able to play in the league of another country. The club in question wishes to gain access to the EPL. Of course, the owner of the "non English club" is English. Freedom to work wherever and anti competitive laws are cited.

Looks like the lower league teams in Romania and Bulgaria are first on the list.

At least for 2014.

Any team can win one off games especially in cup competitions where the bigger name teams usually give their lesser squad players a chance to impress.

Rangers 1 loss in the 3rd tier was against the bottom team at the time - says it all really

Winning a league is a different matter

Those with the bigger quality squads - see those paying the most wages these days
always come through in the end which is why many teams can spend like drunken sailors and come up with nothing for their investment - think Liverpool - 20 years - finished 2nd twice.

What a cruel, spiteful Mistress is Lady Fate, eh ? Throwing goals around like they were confetti today, yet so chaste with her favors against Juve.

Today was - as you might imagine from the score line - a tight, cagey affair. For the first 3 1/2 seconds. Then Dundee Utd. decided to go toe-to-toe with us.

Fair play to them for the approach, but they normally do play open stuff, so no real surprise. Also, their recent managerial change has seen them appoint Jackie McNamara - a well respected former Celtic player, a long serving right back of quality who always comes across as a decent, humble bloke - so you'd expect a proper game. Nothing rough though.

They went in front early from - with worrying repetition - poor communication between our centre-halves. We equalized quickly, they continued to attack. They got a penalty. Well saved by Fraser Forster.
We scored to go in front, and you could see some shoulders growing a little broader. We scored a third, everybody began to relax. Well, not Dundee Utd. obviously.

The second half opened with the wind behind our sails and we were awarded a penalty from a similar point to their one.

No idea if either is a fair award. After discussion and debate, we scored. The game is then close to over at 4 - 1, We stretch it to 6 - 1, and the last seconds of extra-time see us putting the tools away as they nick a little piece of extra redemption to make it 6 - 2 with the final kick of the ball. It was a well taken goal, though.

All in all, easier than it ought to be for us, but you'll take it when it comes...

Fair play to Dundee Utd for having ago and it seems as though some fine entertainment all round.

My point about teams challenging, was with Rangers way down in League 3, it might be a fair while before anyone, other than Celtic, wins the league.

No guarantee's Rangers being back in four years time and even if they are, they will need time to rebuild, so for the foreseeable future, it has the makings of a one horse race.

The cup competitions probably offer the others the best chance of silverware, as nothing is ever certain, in one off games, Berwick Rangers being a prime example.

As for Rangers in the EPL, no problem, as long as they start at the bottom of the pyramid, but certainly no instant access to the money division.

Agreed. Sevco are the ones that are trying. But where does it end.

If one team is allowed then the floodgates are open.

The big clubs will stay where they are but the "fourth division" ones may want to move.

Maybe a team from France, Germany or Malta.

This could be fun. "Darling I am away to watch the game be back in three days".

Taken from Football365
Team Average
Rangers*(1) 46780
Queens Park*(2) 3040
Clyde*(8) 1795
Peterhead*(3) 1108
Elgin City*(5) 993
Berwick Rangers*(7) 861
Stirling Albion*(10) 836
Annan Athletic*(6) 762
Montrose*(4) 647
East Stirlingshire*(9) 570

I would reckon that they'll be back in the SPL for the 2015-6 season, particularly if the spending power that they get from their supporters attending games continues. Being able to keep Ibrox made a HUGE difference.

That illustrates the new fairplay rules perfectly

Biggest stadium wins handsdown

Arsenal finishes runner-up again....LOL

Will be interesting to see if Arsenal with their 60,000 seater start to get a bit more loyalty from their stars given match day revenue is not included in the fairplay rules.

105million in losses over 3 years pretty much means the billionaire tools can no longer buy players like cattle and dispense with them like turds down a toilet nor pay 3 times their rivals for many in their squad as has been common place in recent times.

If their stadium is like Man Cities and only holds 47,000 one might expect and exodus of their stars or very few new signings

Man U with their 76,000 must be waiting with glee for the fairplay era to start.

One wonders how many deals made prior to its inception will be exempt?

Even with the stadium and funds available, it will be getting people to play for them at a lower level and I believe they might struggle making the final jump, back to the SPL.

The one good thing to come out of all of this is the additional revenue for the third tier clubs. Bold is last seasons average.

Perhaps, but with an average attendance at least 15 times that of anyone else they can afford to pay more than others in the division and that gives them a massive advantage IMO. It'd be a bit like putting Man United in the League 2, the sheer size of their support would dramatically skew the table.
